6 May Well, the mystery of why I was early every day last week has been solved, and it's because the show had no intermission, so I left early and got home at 9.30p, which meant that I was more than ready to go to bed at 1.30a. This week, we're doing 7p and 9p shows, and the 9p show has an intermission, so I get home at 11p. Which means that I'm not nearly wound down enough at 1.30a, which means that last night I was still watching Sideways with the commentary track before I finally forced myself to go to Bedforshire. I did, however, find that it is possible to hit snooze twice at 10a, go out, get some breakfast, pick up some cat litter and cupcake frosting, and still get to work on time, though it works better without the hitting of the snooze. And I cannot do these things and also show up to work with clean hair. Ah, I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow. O yeah, except that I can't because I have to tech Orestes. That damn show better be good.
I only ever eat like three things for lunch, because there is only one place near enough to go in the five minutes that I am lucky enough to be able to go get lunch in, and it only has three things that I like: Bologna hero with mustard, chicken and broccoli, and lentil soup. Mostly the first two, they don't always have the soup. The day before yesterday, I was desperately looking for something else, because although I do say that I can eat the same thing every day and never get sick of it, that rule does not apply to every food in the world, and it has been every day since January, what do you want from me?! Ahem. Anyway, I was looking for something different, and there were potatoes on the steam table that looked pretty good, though steam table potatoes always look better than they are, so I grabbed some. And then I saw some meatballs, so I got another container and grabbed a couple of those, too, on a whim. Well! The potatoes were sort of cold and blah, but the meatballs! They were delicious! I have a new thing to eat from the deli next door! I will only have meatballs from now on! Except that yesterday they had no meatballs. So I got chicken and broccoli. Which pulled out my crown. Damn meatballs! I'd still have a mouthful of teeth if you had been there! Anybody who doesn't think that chicken is a sticky food doesn't have any fillings or crowns, because I am always feeling the tug of the chicken on the bits of my teeth that I wasn't born with. But honestly! I just had that crown glued back in in December! Use some decent glue, Dr. Valdez!
I also got a box of the best cookies in the entire world, Jules Destrooper Butter Almond Cookies (that I never noticed before are imported from Belgium, land of my mother). These are plain, brown, rectangular, dull-looking cookies, but I have two proofs that they are the best cookies in the world. The first was when I bought a box a few weeks ago, brought them home, and Baldrick went absolutely ballistic over them. Seriously, he was more intense about getting a bit of cookie than he ever is about steak or cream cheese, and that's pretty intense. The other proof was yesterday, when the cleaning lady was in the lobby and I offered her some. She took two without much interest, just to be polite, ate one, then came running over to ask where I got them and how much they were and to see the box, then went next door to buy a box herself. All before eating that second cookie! This is not to say that the cleaning lady is like the cat, but frankly, you don't get a wider range than a cleaning lady and a cat, so I can confidently say, everyone loves the almond cookies!
