(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

13 June

So yesterday I got up early and barely had time to grab some non-Kosher Chicken McNuggets to take with me to rehearsal (Sheera was hiding the bag from her Orthodox roommate), and we finally had the whole cast and finally blocked the rest of the show. Finally.

It was lovely to finally see Henry again, though he had clearly not even glanced at the script since the first readthrough. He is a bad bad man. I probably wouldn't have either, but that's because I'm bone idle and a quick study, also I can cold-read and fake it well, what tipped me off was Henry stumbling over some of the sentences, which made me aware that he is a bad bad man!

We rehearsed for five hours and really got a lot done and no longer feel quite so behind. Then we figured out our weird rehearsal schedule for the rest of the week, during which I have to deal with a major, two-day-long Jewish holiday, Father's Day, and three of my five actors being in rehearsal for other shows. Which is why we are having a 10.30p rehearsal on Tuesday night.

Someday I really want to do a show where people get paid, because if they are paid to be at rehearsals, they will show up and I won't have to hear about any damn conflicts. Though major Jewish holidays and Father's Day will still exist, day jobs won't.

We open in nine days.

I raced over to the evening show, having to stop for more white wine (the liquor store was closed) and ice (Gristedes was sold out and I had to backtrack), so I was a bit late.

I wish I had been able to do the matinee, because it was a nice big crowd and they would have sucked it down, but I did sell a nice amount of water in the evening (where are all the alcoholics on Sunday nights? Sleeping off Saturday's benders), which brought my total for the week up to $197, my second biggest week ever. And that was without cupcakes!

Mark came to the show and we sat together, but he refused to buy any of my obscenely marked-up water. Cheap bastard.

It was quite a good show, John was spectacular in the Alan Arkin role, which was surprising because he is so sweet and normally plays sweet characters like Tommy in Blackberry Frost--I never thought it was possibly that John would scare me to death!

Jessica, in the lead, did a nice job, particularly with the blindness, though she used the cane wrong. Everything else was right, though, and she had a strong performance. The play didn't actually end, though. I mean, it kind of stopped, rather than having an ending. Apparently, in the movie the ending is very powerful. I'm going to have to get it from Netflix and check it out.

Today's horoscope:
It's your lucky day, astrologically speaking -- and, luckier still, so is tomorrow. You can finish up projects with panache, and it's a very promising time to start anything new.
