14 April So yesterday was my day off, ahhh. Though it really wasn't a good day off. Though, like an orgasm that isn't very good, it's still a day off, so how bad can it be? I slept in too late, and was headachy for a lot of the day because of it, and my computer crashed and wouldn't start again, and I was like Carol Ann in Poltergeist, "No more." Believe you me, when it started again a few hours later, I uploaded everything and backed up my downloaded music and stuff. Amazing to have a second chance for once! But I really don't want to have to send it in to get fixed again, didn't go through enough of that last year? But then I took a lovely long shower and all of the water went right down the drain, so I was pretty chuffed about that. And I really love that honey shampoo and conditioner from The Body Shop, which is making my hair so. Very. Soft. So after that, things brightened up.
I went to the supermarket and got groceries so that there would be actual food in the actual house, and while I was there I noticed that they were having big fat sales on cans of Pepsi and bottled water, and remembered that I want to do concessions at the theatre. Jackie did concessions during Fiddlin' and Burnin', and made $20-$40 a night. Some nights it was more than the box office! And I thought that I wanted to do that. I did a long time ago, but it was more trouble than it was worth and I didn't do it right, but how Jackie did it was the right way, and I learned the right items to sell and so on, and I knew that Le would say yes, though I did need to ask him. But anyway, the Pepsi was on sale at $2.50 a 12 pack (must buy 4 and no more than 8!), and the water was on sale for $3.99 for 24 (no limit!), and that sounded pretty good, so I thought that I'd borrow the car later and get it. Co-incidently, Le called me later in the day and while we were talking I got his okay, and then when I was talking to my Mom, I told her about it and got really excited, so when I hung up, I just jumped into the car and went to the market! I got the Pepsi and the water, then looked around for other things that were on sale. The Snapple was going for 50¢, so I got 24 bottles of that in various flavours, and there were these little bottles of apple juice in 8 packs where if you bought an 8 pack for $3 you'd get two more for free, and the little boxes of Yoohoo were 10 for $2.50, so I got those, too. The way I figure it is, people will certainly buy water and soda, but the others were such a great deal that why not buy them? So nobody ever buys an apple juice, I'm only out $3, but at $3 for 24, I only have to sell a couple to have them pay for themselves. And it's not as though any of it's going to go bad, I can sell them months from now, and they'll still be fine. I also got some brownie mix and cake mix and frosting, because Merry did so well with the cupcakes at Vagina Monologues the night before, that I really wanted to do that, too. The thing with cupcakes is that once anyone sees them, they are all like, "Cupcakes! I love cupcakes!" and then they buy them even if they are $2 each. Or maybe that was just me. And I'm not charging $2. Unfortunately, I forgot to buy eggs, so no brownies or cupcakes for opening night tomorrow. On the other hand, it was after midnight, so I was rather glad of the excuse not to have to bake at 1a.
So anyway, that was $65 spent, including cups and cupcake wrappers, and I still need to buy wine. Mom reminded me of the famously cheap and famously good wine that they have at Trader Joe's, but of course, Trader Joe's is West Coast only. Or so I thought! It's nation-wide, who knew? There are even several in New Jersey and New York! Because of the liquor laws, though, out of all of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, there is only one single Trader Joe that sells Two Buck Chuck. Fortunately, it's not only in New Jersey, but only 35 minutes from my house(according to the giant liars at Mapquest)! So I can borrow the car one morning and go buy 24 bottles or so! Not only is it $1.99 a bottle (hopefully it's that cheap in New Jersey, apparently in some places it's as much as $3.39), but everyone loves it and it is delicious and baby, I can sell it for $3 a glass.
I went to bed and dreamt all night about Snapple and water and Pepsi. Seriously. I think I'm a tiny bit obsessed.
