4 April So yesterday was the only say I could go see all my friends in A Winter's Tale, but it was the matinee and between getting high and not getting to bed until 5.30a due to Daylight Savings Time, I overslept and couldn't drag myself out of bed in time. For crying out loud, I am not Wonder Woman! I'm Super Box Office Woman, remember?
It was closing night of Bubbling, and it was one of those performances that comes only once in a very long time. The way the show is set up, as I have said about 95 times so far, is like six one-acts, Colleen as Julie is onstage the whole time, and the six of us come on one at a time and have about a 12 minute scene. Well, Claudia, who has the first scene, got a round on her exit. Leslie, who has the second scene, got a round on her exit. Laura, who has the third scene, got a round during the scene and then at her exit. At this point, I was thinking that my scene ends the show and I don't have an exit, it's fade to black while Colleen and I are on the stage, so no round for me! No fair! It just kept getting better and better during the second act, and when I came on, it was amazing. The audience were ready for me, and I had a performance that basically couldn't have been better. I may not have gotten a round, but the show stopped dead four times due to audience laughter. It was like riding a wave, I could feel the audience energy and it would spur me to higher heights, which would make them laugh more and raise their energy higher. It was the most amazing feeling. It was a really big house, lots of my friends were there, and Le was there, who told me that I got the role the way nobody else ever has. That nobody's ever done it right but me. Not a bad compliment from the playwright about a twenty-year-old show. And Mark was there. He came.
