(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

22 September

Man, does this feel great. Just writing and not worrying about old entries and everything. I mean, I'm going to try to create some back entries, at least for the last week, but I'm not waiting.

Maybe being offline for two months was a good thing, it shook me out of the habit of piling up entries and so on, and now maybe I'll feel that if the entry isn't written on the day it doesn't count.

Of course, this is only Day Two, so perhaps I am being a teensy bit overconfident that all of the getting hideously behind on entries is completely in the past, but we'll see. It just might be.

Yesterday I went to the doctor so that she could clonk me on the head about my terrible cholesterol.

The real problem is less that my bad cholesterol is high, but that my good cholesterol is incredibly low, and that is apparently completely genetic. Thanks a lot, Mom--here I am, 40 years old (only 40, only 40!!!!), and taking handfuls of pills a day like I'm geriatric or HIV positive or something so that my heart won't explode like a snowball.

Anyway, she put me on 500 milligrams of Niacin a day, which is supposed to raise your good cholesterol, but you can only take it at night because it makes you flush and faint, and better to do that in bed. I took it last night at dinner and was fine for the rest of the night, but since I did nothing more strenuous than watch TV and smoke on the back steps, perhaps it wasn't the most scientific experiment possible.

After the doctor, I went to the Circuit City at the strip mall on the boulevard and got myself a $20 optical mouse. There was also a $24 optical mouse that seemed to be exactly the same product, but in a larger box. It only took me five minutes to decide on the cheaper one, I'm quite the consumer.

Then home, plugging in the mouse, turning on the computer, and it worked! Happiness and joy abounded, and I buckled down and started reading back entries like a maniac. It was like Lent and Easter all over again, catching up with Beth and Pamie and Jessie and Columbine and Anelie (pregnant!) and Carrie (still pregnant!) and Amy (had the baby!) until I finally had to go to bed.

I must remember that I still have library books to read!

My current library DVD that I am watching is the first season of Upstairs Downstairs, a show that I adored as a kid.

What I didn't realize when I started was that I never watched the first season, since I certainly had never seen it in black and white. "Where's Edward?" I thought when I watched that first episode, "Where's Daisy and Ruby and Georgina and James? And since when is Pauline Collins in this show?"

James showed up in episode three, and of course Rose and Mrs. Bridges and Mr. Hudson and Lady Marjorie and Mr. Bellamy were there from the start, but Edward and Daisy were always my favourites and I hope they show up in the first season, or I will be most sad.

Pauline Collins as Sarah is terrific, I'm sorry that she wasn't around for more of the show. Though she does quit in episode three and according to the imdb, she was in for 13 episodes, so she'll come back at some point. I'm fascinated to find out whatever happens to James' sister Elizabeth, as I don't remember her at all!

Today's horoscope:
Today's astro-weather calls for extended periods of calm, followed by scattered storms, a pretty heavy shower and setting in early for the evening -- if you're smart. And everyone knows how smart you are.

One year ago today:
I don't want to be thinking back and remember the me that I am now and feel sorry for me, but it was so long ago and everything is different. I would rather hurt forever than feel better and not love him.
