(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

25 March

So yesterday I went over to Melanie's house, which was fun.

We had lunch at this chain Mexican place that had some of the best nachos that I have had in a long while, then back to the house. The kids had come home from school and exploded like volcanos at the sight of me. That never grows old, it really doesn't.

Then we went into the house, and I spent an extremely entertaining afternoon fooling around on her computer. It's amazing what a treat it seemed after having no computer at home and merely an hour a day at the library--just to have no time limit, just to be able to do what I liked.

On the other hand, it's less distracting to try to write an entry in a relatively quiet library than in a small room with three children in it, but it's six of one, I had more time, so I could afford distractions.

Melanie hung out in the computer room with me, too, cleaning out her file cabinet. They moved into the house at the end of last year, and things aren't entirely unpacked or put away or cleared up as much as Melanie would like, but she gets lonely and bored just doing that stuff by herself, she told me that I'd be doing her a favour working on her computer, because she'd be able to get work done herself in a way that she can't when she's alone.

After a few hours, they had to go to their church's Wednesday night Lenten soup supper, and I drove home, calling Mom on the way. Where she reminded me that we were supposed to go to the Wednesday soup supper at St. Charles!

I had completely forgotten, certainly on purpose because I hate stuff like that, eating in big rooms with people I don't know. Not to mention the fact that I don't really care for a lot of soups. The only thing I really was interested in was the hymn singing that they promised that they would have as well.

I got caught in rush hour traffic, and met Mom at St. Charles, where the dinner had already started. And the hymn singing was over. The soup was something creamy that I didn't want or a bland vegetable soup without practically any beans and chunks of carrot that were far too big. It was pretty much a write-off as far as I was concerned.

Then we went to the laundromat, because it's a block away from the church and Mom had the laundry bag in the back of the Volkswagen. Not co-incidentally, since we really did have to do laundry, but hadn't actually planned on doing it at 9p.

I was completely out of clothing, including underwear, so I very much needed to do a wash. I had been wearing dirty underwear inside-out like a frat boy for several days. Because I'm way too lazy to hand-wash.

There's nothing like having a drawer full of clean underwear to feel a sense of well-being.

Today's horoscope:
Outward simplicity is a sign of complex perfection. Include other people to improve upon what you can't do alone. This is the start of a phase that you're really going to enjoy.

One year ago today:
She also said, "Kymmie, when we watch SqueezeBox Charlie, I get to sit next to Omar!" to which I answered, "Don't start with me, kid, you'll lose." Don't care if it is her birthday or that she's only 5 years old, there are certain things too important to give way on.
