(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

18 March

It's hot at the library today.

I'm in Glendale, because Melanie dropped off Mom's computer (that she was sadly unable to get fixed), and I am taking it in to Gateway today. After the library, which is on the same street.

Now I'm re-reading all of the Betsy-Tacy books and got everything out by William Sleator, some of which are new to me. So I'm sweating here at the computer rather than fighting for a spot at Durant.

They implemented a new sign-up system for the computers on Monday, rather than having a sign-up sheet, and all hell broke loose. I got there about an hour after it opened, and the computers were just coming online. As I walked up to the desk to ask how the new system worked, the librarian made an announcement of how the new system worked, so I just sat down in front of a computer and signed in.

I was the only person to have an easy time of it for the hour and a half I was there. O the wailing, o the gnashing of teeth! The new printing system didn't work, and all of the people trying to pre-register for time found that they couldn't, and everyone was confused and complaining, and one of the librarians got rather snappish with one of the stupider patron and all was ashes.

I got tired of listening to people complain about how confused they were and started explaining the problems and what they needed to do and what wasn't online yet. They should have paid me for the day, while I was there, I helped keep the librarians from going off to find a length of rope, I'm sure.

When I went there yesterday, the problems were all sorted, except for the fact that since you can book in advance for tomorrow, some clearly unused computers were impossible to sign onto, since they kept insisting that they were being used. These people, cavalierly booking time that they had no intention of using, these heartbreakers, leaving the computers pining!

Anyway, I'm here at Glendale, where you sign up on the clipboard. Much more sensible.

O, hey, Pamie's show is tonight! If it's not sold out already, I'll try to go.

Shit, I just read this entry, and it is sold out. This is what I get for reading that her show was going to be on while I was in LA, thinking, "Hey great, her show will be on when I am in LA!" and then going on my merry way, never thinking about it for a second or writing down the date or making a reservation or anything.

Ah well, I hope it goes well, Pam, have a great show!

Today's horoscope:
If you want to have fun, be flexible. Your standby turns out even better than that unavailable first choice would have been. Count yourself lucky that you learned a hard lesson the easy way.

One year ago today:
I thought everyone was wonderful, but I particularly loved what the movie was about--choosing life, choosing to live. That it would be best if we didn't have to hurt people along the way, but when it comes right down to it, we much choose life for ourselves.
