(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

14 March

No blissful blabbing on about the library today, it's Sunday, I'm at Kinko's.

Last night I finally saw a movie for the first time since January, I think, and it was certainly worth waiting for, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I knew that it would be my kind of movie, but I didn't know that it was going to be that much my kind of movie.

I don't think it's out yet, and I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I won't give much plot away, just what's generally known. But if you don't want to know, then don't' read this next sentence. Don't read it! I mean the one after this one. Look, just go to the next paragraph, for heaven's sake. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet meet and fall in love and have a relationship that ends, so she erases him from her memory, and when he finds out, he tries to erase her from his, but in the middle of the procedure, he changes his mind and tries to stop it.

It's a really lovely movie, filled with absolutely splendid performances, especially by Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Like many comic actors, Jim Carrey is clearly filled with an enormous well of pain that he was able to access in The Truman Show and again here. He plays a man too shy to look a woman in the face so clearly and sharply and with such depth that there is no way that he has not ever been this man. And Kate Winslet plays both sides of her free-spirit character, the free, fun side and the tiresome side without losing sight of the fact that they are the same person. And her American accent is so perfect that I didn't even think about it once after her first scene, and that's really something for me.

Also, I loved David Cross and Kirsten Dunst and Mark Ruffalo and everybody. And I especially loved the message of the picture, which is the creed by which I am trying to live my life: When it's important enough, we can break our patterns. That's what I did, when it was important enough.

Today's horoscope:
Earth signs solidify their plans with each passing hour. By evening, you'll equal your previous work in this area. If that's not good enough, the stars will help you surpass all that has gone before.

One year ago today:
Omar told me afterwards that he was just humouring me when I was telling him about the show and that he should do it with us, but before he was halfway through reading it, he called me and said, "I have to do this role!"
