(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

5 December

Lord, what an exhausting weekend this has been, and it doesn't get any better today!

So I got up at 8a yesterday after about 14 minutes of sleep, went to the library to print out my script, since I had left it at rehearsal the other day, which meant that I wasn't going to be any better on my lines than I was on Thursday, then went to rehearsal, late of course.

We rehearsed Lullaby on the set and figured out the furniture and where everything would be and the lights and sound and everything just the way it will be, except that Kelly wasn't there (she's in New Orleans and will even be missing tech) and I went up on my lines.

Honestly, Pam's so laid back that I've been much worse about learning them that I usually am. Actors will get away with everything that they are allowed to, which is why I'm so hard on them. Of course I'll know them at tech, but I shouldn't still be calling line--were I directing, I would have killed me.

Afterwards, we had rehearsal for Long Christmas Dinner.

I had dragged in my card table to use in the set, but it turned out not to match up with the card table that was already there. However, it turned out that there was another card table, apparently brought by the card table fairies, which did match up, so we had a lovely long table.

Tony had brought the wheelchair, and I worked with that for the first time (I use a cane in one show and am in a wheelchair in the other, so it's a very restful evening for my legs), and the show went pretty well. You know, except for the fact that people don't know their lines. I can afford to be snooty, I know my lines in this show.

Then I got out early, since we clearly weren't going to get through this 40-minute show more than once in a two-hour rehearsal period, and went downtown to go to the darkroom.

Not only the darkroom, but I also actually finally picked up Claire and Josh's colour contact sheets! Yes, they got married in July, I never claimed not to be slow. I'm good, but slow. But I got them and they are beautiful, and at last I can stop being embarrassed.

Then I went into the darkroom and did Meghan's contact sheets for her headshots that I did two weeks ago, and blew up some prints from Melissa's wedding. And no, I'm not that slow, I know they got married two years ago, but they only ordered the pictures a couple of months ago, and their only caveat was that they got them before Xmas, so by golly, that's what I'm doing.

I worked really hard too, there was one neg that kept having flecks of dust on it no matter how I kept brushing it, until I realized that some were flaws in the negative, so I used that nose grease trick, which worked beautifully.

The nose grease trick is the best darkroom trick in the world--if there are scratches or marks on the neg, often you can fix them by rubbing your finger on the side of your nose and then onto the negative, and the marks don't show on the print! This is real old-school, but it works better and easier than any other trick in the book.

Then I went to the show, and was hideously late, but I made it there before Le, which was the most important thing, and there weren't a million people waiting to get in, so that was okay.

And the show I hated yesterday? Got a huge reaction--a positive one. So it just goes to show, if people don't know how it's supposed to be, maybe they'll like what they see. There must have been people who liked the Diabolique remake as well.

Afterwards was Annegrrl's birthday party, which I was too exhausted to attend. And let me tell you, I was embarrassed to admit to exhaustion, since she came to my party this year when she had to get up and be in a movie the next day with about two hours of sleep, but she came anyway!

She is made of sturdier stuff than I am. Also, she's at least ten years younger than I am. And besides, there is no greater party killer than the aging girl snoring in the corner.

Remember, if anyone who wants a Xmas card from me this year had best send me their address, because remember? No computer means no Xmas card list!

Today's horoscope:
If you're feeling it, you'll be showing it, saying it and acting on it. Much to the delight of your lucky companions, you'll also be quite entertaining. Enjoy the spotlight. It's all yours.

One year ago today:
There is nothing else to talk about on the news but the snow. They have two anchors, two reporters and two meteorologists all talking about it, and one of the weathermen called what is occurring at this very little minute as: "a major, very significant snow event."
