15 April Went to bed late again last night, at 3.30a, but I know that I didn't get to sleep for quite awhile, or maybe I slept and then woke up, something like that. I had set my alarm for 11.30a because I don't like sleeping all damn day, but then I was so long about getting to sleep that I wasn't sure it would get me up. Except for the fact that I woke up at I don't really know what time, thinking that I had turned off the alarm in my sleep, and when I finally looked at the clock, it was 11.15a. So I got about 14 minutes of sleep, but am very well rested, somehow.
There was an extremely peculiar Price is Right episode this morning. A girl won her way onstage, and while she was there she won a car, but after the commercial break it turned out that another contestant should have won! He said his price, Bob heard a different price, and then nobody corrected the first one, but he should have won his way up to the stage to play for the car. So they gave him a car! And sent him off to sit with the contestants who already played and sent the girl back into contestants row! Where she won her way up again! It would have made a great story if she had then proceeded to win the second prize, but she didn't. And the guy was the one who got to go to the Showcase Showdown, where he didn't win. So he was sort of the Gerald Ford of The Price is Right, in that he won a prize without ever playing for it, and when he did play, he lost.
Last night I brought my lovely mp3 player to the theatre to listen to during the show, but then Mark asked me to listen to the hockey game for him--apparently it was vital--so I sat during the show listening to my music with one ear, Mark's game with the other, and reading People magazine with both my eyes. I was multitasking! The Devils loss to the Flyers, 3-0, was as an arrow to Mark's heart. I asked him if his character was supposed to be in despair, and he averred, so clearly the game did wonders for his performances. Though I've no doubt that he would have preferred to just act it. I, on the other hand, was quite impressed by his headphones, which were the Star Trek kind where they stick in your ear but also go over your ear, so they are both comfortable and don't fall out. I am having that problem with my mp3 player earphones, since my earholes are too freakishly small to stuff the things in firmly enough that they don't fling themselves out at the first opportunity. It's like some sort of bizarre balancing act, them trembling at the edge of my earholes, I walking carefully as though over eggs. I'll have to tape them in next.
I have been catching up on my journals, and found Wil's Adventures in Voice Over very interesting, especially since it's what I'm trying to do as well. I hope he gets the role!
