(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

14 April

So yesterday it was all about staying in out of the rain. That is, until I had to leave the house for the show.

It was opening night of Of Mice and Men, starring Le as Lenny, which was why I came back Monday, to run that show. Also, because it's a required Mainstage, I knew that I'd make some decent money on that opening night, which I did.

The show was nice and full, but I didn't have to put down any extra chairs. And a good thing, too, because there really isn't any room for extra chairs, they use the stage right down to the front.

It's a three act show, which is tiresome, since I have to stay through the second intermission, which means that I pretty much have to be there for two hours, as though I were staying through the whole show if it were of normal length. Bleh.

Plus I have to listen to the show through the door, and I'd forgotten exactly how depressing this show is. Actually, I've never seen the show, but I've read the book many times long ago, and I would read the last couple of pages just to weep and weep, but that's the last act, and the first two acts are pretty depressing, too, especially when you know what's coming.

Barbara had to leave after the second act, and I told her that everything would end up okay for everyone, and she said that she had seen the play before and knew that it wasn't so, but I told her that since she wasn't seeing the last act, she could hold out the hope that this time they buy the farm and nobody dies and Lenny gets lots of rabbits.

I am madly in love with my new mp3 player.

Admittedly, it's only a 64mg version, so I cannot load a million billion songs on it and listen to everything that I own, but it's rather fun only having room for a mixtape's worth of songs. I could probably put more songs on than I have now, but I have an episode of Sherlock Holmes on it, and that's half an hour long.

So I put an assortment of songs (and the occasional old radio show) on it, listen to them, then take them off and put new ones on. Plus, it's about the size of a lighter, and it plugs directly into the USB port--there wasn't even any software to install!

Admittedly, I'd still love an ipod that holds 40,000 songs, but for $40 this isn't bad.

Today's horoscope:
You've crossed the mind of an ex-lover a lot lately, and he or she may be ready to reconnect. Before you agree to give them a second chance, be sure you have new solutions to those old problems.

One year ago today:
That's actually a line from the show, John to Missy, out of reach up on the ladder, "Can't we do it just one more time?" "I told you no, that is a thing past. Remember it and know that the past has been kind to you, my friend."
