(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

12 April

So yesterday was Easter, and we had a lovely time.

We went to church in the morning, arriving early for once in our lives, early enough to sit near the front. It got very crowded, of course, not quite as crowded as midnight mass, but crowded enough that they had to use the side chapels. I felt very smug that we had arrived early enough to have proper seats.

The regular cantor wasn't there, instead it was the old tenor with the white hair and the bushy black moustache, the one who has been around long enough so that I remember when he had black hair. I guess he rarely does the 11.30a masses, because I haven't seen him since I've been here.

He's got a good voice, though rather nasal, but there is something about it that is very hard to follow--I thought I was singing quite badly until the woman in front of me complemented my voice during the "peace be with you"s.

Then we went home and had our Easter dinner, Honeybaked ham and mashed potatoes and so on. Mom only realized tonight that she had forgotten to make the cabbage, but I didn't miss it.

After dinner, we watched Eater Parade and Holiday Inn on TCM. I never thought of Holiday Inn as being an Easter movie, what with "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" and so on, but of course, it's Holiday Inn! It is appropriate for all holidays. Though I wouldn't necessarily show it for Martin Luther King's birthday, what with the blackface number.

Then I had to pack and go to the store to get my donut for the plane tomorrow. I always get one last whipped cream eclair from the Donut Inn before leaving, as they are the best donuts in the known universe. Unfortunately, it was very hot and the whipped cream had all melted to shit, but the nice clerk made me a new one. I tipped him a dollar in thanks.

Then was packing and finding and desperately trying to finish my last few library books that I was in the middle of. And then to bed! I have an early flight this morning. I'm going home!

Today's horoscope:
Bet you're feeling a bit of an afterglow due to recent romantic events, and fortunately, that feeling isn't going anywhere just yet. This is the stuff that sighs, secret smiles and fond memories are made of. Don't expect to sleep much.

One year ago today:
So last night Omar's wife and daughter were supposed to come and he was so excited, but they didn't show up and he fell apart.
