(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

24 September

So yesterday Omar told me in the morning that we couldn't rehearse at his house that afternoon, which pissed me the hell off, but Sam is being very difficult these days and suddenly he was going to be home so suddenly we couldn't be there.

So I went upstairs and asked Cynthia if we could rehearse in the living room, and she was all passive-aggressive about having to clean the house if people were coming over, and I said that I'd clean and she said no, that she wasn't going to have me clean her house, and it was just all this shit until I said fine, forget it, I'd find someplace else.

And I was really pissed off! I had an emergency and I really needed help and how many times have I helped out? How many times have I picked up the kids or babysat or done this or that? How many times have I been asked to do things and said yes when I wanted to say no? And what do I ever ask in return? Occasionally to borrow the car, but frankly I've given a lot more than I've ever asked for.

On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with being the kind of person who says no when they want to say no. You don't get points for being the asshole who says yes and resents it, I just cannot say no when someone looks me in the eye and says "Help me, I need your help." But when you are the kind of person who goes out of your way for other people, you think that people should occasionally go out of their way for you. Even though that is actually kind of unreasonable.

Anyway, I found a cheapish place to rehearse, though they only had one hour free and I needed two, someone ended up canceling and I got two hours. And it was a good space and ended up being better than had we done it at the house. But I was still annoyed.

So the DirecTV guys came yesterday to fix the dish! Except that they didn't. Because it was raining. Why they bothered to come at all, I'll never know. Cynthia and I were both furious, but we had to reschedule for Thursday. I called and made them credit us a week.

There has been no TV since Friday! I have actually cleared off my TiVo. Aren't I having enough going on these days without also the fate worse than death of having no TV? What is this, Little House on the Prairie?

Today's horoscope:
The stars offer you a unique quality of hindsight. Understand and act. Take the time to explain only if you're ready to share some of this incredible power.

One year ago today:
That was the good news, here is the bad news, Mom found Daddy's birth certificate, and on it was listed his mother's place of birth, and it was New York. So Ellen was not born in Ireland, no Irish passport for me.
