(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

1 September

As I said a year ago, I was going to keep using the September set from '01 every year because of the skyline on the index page, but Saundra sent me this lovely set that's a little melancholy and uses my local photographs, so I decided to use it. It feels appropriate.

God, yesterday was gorgeous. It was nightmarish hot two days before, then the day before it started out for, then dropped 18º in a couple of hours and rained, and then yesterday it split the difference and was completely beautiful.

I spent some time in the backyard in the sun, not tanning on purpose or anything, but sitting in the sun and watching the cats hang out in the dirt, Monty playing Jungle Cat by completely disappearing into the sunflowers, the eyeballs the only thing showing, like a hippo.

I sort of felt like it was my last time in the backyard in the sun until next year. Here's hoping that I am entirely wrong. If for no other reason than that's where I get my best cell reception and I can just see me freezing out there all winter long.

Also yesterday was my family birthday party, so the weather was appreciated, since it was what might be the last barbecue this summer.

Burgers and dogs and beans and corn and yellow cake with chocolate frosting, which was my request. I haven't had yellow cake in a while, and it's the only cake whose flavour isn't actually a flavour. What the hell does yellow taste like? Whatever it is, it's pretty darn good!

For my birthday, Cynthia got me a big Sephora set with all this shit, bath gel and beads and salts and soap and just everything that I partially can't wait to use and partially don't want to use at all because the set is so pretty.

Then we all walked down Park to the new Baskin-Robbins, which is also a Dunkin Donuts, so therefor it's a 16 Flavors, not 31, but they had pralines and cream, so that was okay by me. And why did we all have ice cream after having cake? Why because it was my birthday! Or as good as. Actually, it was because Fran forgot about the cake when he promised the girls that we'd walk down and get ice cream.

It worked for me!

I am so crazy about Stef's journal that I can't even stand it. And I'm only at last June! I love her work stories, who else works in the trenches of politics? I'm completely riveted.

Today's horoscope:
Rivals forget their differences when everything else runs smoothly. Curiosity makes the world new and friendly. Those with a musical ear tune into a new dimension in a familiar arrangement.

One year ago today:
Not to mention the fact that she is has all of this while having the nerve of being ten years younger than me, which is frankly, just showing off as far as I am concerned.
