21 May Here's what I have decided, I have been unemployed for two months, and though I certainly am digging the whole not working thing, I am getting into some really bad habits and I really need to start nipping them in the bud. I am going to stop getting up so late, which will necessitate not going to bed so late. It's really easy, with TiVo, not to quite know what time it is, but it's not as though I don't have a clock on the VCR and the microwave and the TV and the alarm and the computer screen that I am staring at anyway, there is no excuse for all this "Heavens, it's 4a already!" crap. So, go to bed early and get up early. Not early early, obviously, I am not a complete lunatic, but Omar shouldn't be waking me up when he calls me at 12.30p. Getting up at 10a or so is neither getting up in the middle of the night nor sleeping away half the day, it's sort of a happy medium. And then when I get up, I'm going to get dressed. There is nothing that feels as great as hanging out in your jammies, but after a few days or weeks of it it stops feeling great and starts feeling slovenly. So, showering and dressing and things right away, not at 5p. It's just the wrong way to live, how I've been the last couple of months, and I don't want to be that way anymore.
Monty's claws are so long, he gets caught on everything, but it's always such a rodeo to clip them that I have been avoiding it. Especially since he hasn't been well and he's 18 years old and I don't want to give him a heart attack, but you know, I'm really kind of over the whole following him around and unhooking him from everything and sundry. But I didn't clip them yesterday and I don't think I'm going to clip them today. Maybe tomorrow? Depends on what I am trying to avoid most, the updating or the talon clipping. We'll find out soon enough.
Lately I've been TiVoing Price is Right and Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune (speaking of being slovenly, but this is not something that I want to change, I love my game shows and I am not ashamed). I love the way TiVo summarizes the games shows: "Price is Right - Contestants bid for prizes." "Wheel of Fortune - Contestants try to solve word problems." Of course, that is what happens in those games, but it just strikes me as amusing. They don't summarize Jeopardy, however, it's just listed by its title and nothing more. Apparently, if you don't know what Jeopardy is about already, you don't deserve to watch, like those restaurants with unlisted phone numbers and no sign out front. The Jeopardy needs no props.
Congratulations, Rick!
Lenten entries missed: Tamar demolished kitchen, decided to take Damian out of afternoon school, told him the story of how he came to be, and started a photoblog which happens to be really spectacular.
