17 May So yesterday I was awakened by the phone. It was Gregg David, saying that he doesn't want to direct Moon. Okay. I wish he would, but there is nothing that I can do about it. I told him about Rose Tattoo, that we want to do that in the future and that we will have the same problem, since I will be in it rather than directing it. So I called Ronnie and left a message for him. While I was waiting for him to call back, I thought of a couple of other people who could do it, maybe Ellen or Merry, and I was going to ask Le about them if Ronnie said no. He did call me, and we arranged to meet today, since I need to give him the script for the Born Yesterday reading. I didn't tell him what the show was or anything, because I didn't want to scare him. Then when I got home, Cynthia came downstairs to talk to me. She hadn't wanted to direct Moon because it's such a commitment, and she didn't want to turn down work if she got any, so Le was asking her about her schedule and she said that she didn't have any conflicts at this time, but that there were several things on the horizon that might occur, and he said, "So basically you need a backup, an assistant director to take over if necessary. How about me?" Let me explain. Le is the managing director of the company, he started Love Creek, he is the top dog, the big cheese, the idea of him assistant directing my project is extraordinary, it never would have occurred to me to ask him. Also, he is already directing a show that goes up in a couple of weeks, so the fact that he is willing to take the time, I mean, there are no words. And the fact that Cynthia is now going to be the director, that is just the greatest, she is a wonderful director, she has a real feeling for the material, and I won't have to second-guess her or wonder if she is doing things properly, all I have to do is lean back and concentrate on my role. So we have a director. So we are on. And now I can get excited. Which I did for about four seconds before I realized that I pretty much never leave the stage for the entire play, and boy is this a huge role that I have to learn! And I have nobody to blame but my own little self. Hooray! We are really doing it! And all you locals have to come, man, this is serious, we cannot lose money on this sucker.
Lenten entries missed: Secra took a stroll down memory lane, her daughter turned twenty, her other daughter came to visit, she finished The Project From Hell, and had a visit from her son. It was all-family all the time for Secra this Lent!
