(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

16 May

So yesterday I went into the city early to work with Philip on his accent for Moon. Which is all entirely academic if we never find a director, but there you have it.

We worked for two and a half hours, and though he had a tiny tendency to get all Lucky Charms leprechaun on me, and occasionally it seemed as though he might be about to extol the virtues of Irish Spring soap, generally he stayed in the realm of Irish reality. God, he's going to be good in this role, I have no idea why I didn't think of him originally when we were at a loss as to who could play the character, pre-John.

After Philip and before the show, I had to kill some time, so I went to see X2 again. I was going to try to see Matrix Reloaded, but ha ha ho, frankly, since it was opening day and every single showing was sold out but for the 1a.

X2 was just as good the second time around. I don't think it will ever be as special as the first one when everything was fresh and new, but it's just great. I do think that it was funny that Halle Berry bitched about her hairstyle until they gave her a better wig, so in trade they gave Famke Janssen the worst hairdo ever in history. "You get an Oscar, Famke, maybe we'll let you look pretty, too."

Omar and I were going to see Crimes of the Heart at Love Creek together, but he celled me at about 7.30p and tried to beg off. He had worked all day and he was tired. I will accept canceling due to work, I will accept canceling due to depression, I will not accept canceling due to tired feet, so I pulled out all the stops, man, every one, until he agreed to come. When I hung up, my usher looked at me in admiration and said, "Man, you're good!"

The show was quite good, Matt in particular was the cutest thing in the known universe, and Wende was great as Babe. I had a problem with the accents not matching, but that's my own personal thing. All in all it was a fun evening at the theatre, and Omar had a good time and was glad that I had twisted his arm and made him come.

I was particularly glad, because otherwise I wouldn't have seen him until Monday, since he's going to Lancaster again this weekend, and I really cannot stand not seeing him for longer than a week.

When I got home I watched the season ender for Without a Trace, and they used my favourite song, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", over the end montage. They left out one line, though, the one that goes "Remember when I moved in you, the holy dark was moving too, and every breath we drew was hallelujah."

It was, of course, understandable that they cut that line, because the montage was a little less about sexual compulsion and obsession than the song is actually about, but it made me laugh anyway.

Still no work from Gregg David. I might just have a stroke and then the need to find a director will be entirely moot.

Lenten entries missed:

Sarah was so totally not scammed, was in a really really bad mood, recapped the Oscars, experienced karaoke in Trafford, discussed her natural opening and tried to learn to dress.

Today's horoscope:
With so many choices, it's hard to reach a quick decision. The line behind you is getting longer. Sometimes mystery can be a positive thing. Virgo should take a chance.

One year ago today:
And so how was the show? Well, after it was over, when they brought up the lights, the three of us looked at each other, tears streaming down our faces, and chorused hoarsely, "I want to see it again! Right now! Make them come back and do the whole show again!!"
