13 March I dreamt that Eminem was my best friend and that 8 Mile was the greatest movie ever to have been made. The plot in my dream, though, had nothing whatever to do with the actual movie.
So yesterday Patrick was in town for his interview at The Actor's Studio and I was able to hang out with him and have lunch because hey, I'm unemployed! Thanks, Company That Must Not Be Named! I picked him up at Penn and we walked to Vynl because I was fainting with hunger. I keep forgetting to eat, so I'm fine fine fine fine fine starving! And then when I'm eating I'm fine fine fine fine fine bursting! There doesn't seem to be much along the lines of kind of full or a little hungry. I'm a woman of extremes. On the walk to Vynl, Patrick mentioned that he had emailed Sara Astruc with his schedule, but that she never answered, so I whipped out my trusty cell phone and demanded that she meet us for lunch. So it is both handy to be unemployed and to have a cell phone! We were finished eating by the time that she got there, and we sat for a long time just chatting, then decided to walk Patrick to his hotel on Park Ave. I figured out that I had walked three and a half miles, not bad for me! It rained on us on our way to Vynl, but the sun came out for the walk to the hotel. This is because The Sun Always Shines on Sara Astruc. In case you were unaware. We got to the hotel, and my God that was the smallest room I had ever seen in my life. Omar called right at that moment and said, "Where are you?" "I'm in, my God, the smallest hotel room I have ever seen in my life!" "Don't take anything less than a hundred."
After a bit, I left to go to rehearsal. I swear, I have never been this laid-back about a show in my life. I want it to be good, I think it will be good, but we have short rehearsals and I am counting on the girls to pull everything necessary out of their asses without much pressure on my part. I finished blocking, and then Michelle asked, "Is anyone else having trouble learning their lines? Is anyone else getting scared?" I reassured them, saying that we only just finished blocking, and it's much easier to learn lines when you have the blocking, that we don't open for a week and we have several more rehearsals. And also, hey, I'm not the one that has to be on stage without knowing my lines, that's their problem! I'm so supportive.
