16 July Okay, disregard what I said yesterday, because I did in fact lay out to try to fill in my tan for the man who doesn't like tan lines. Or rather, fill in my burn, because there isn't a bit of tan anywhere on me, but burn there is plenty. It wasn't bad, though, actually. It also didn't work, but at least I tried. I went to the store and bought some sunscreen (there's the key!), as well as some aloe, because this sucker is going to hurt plenty soon. Soon ha, it hurts now, and yet, I lay out anyway. The things one does. It was actually rather interesting. I don't have a tube top or anything that I could put on in order to eliminate the dreaded tan lines, so I lay out topless instead. My backyard has a big fence, so I was safe from prying eyes, and I lay a towel over my front when I was on my back anyway, because I'm not burning my boobs for anyone. But there is something very freeing to be laying out in the open air wearing only a pair of panties. When I went in, though, the lines had filled in only a little bit, barely visible to the naked eye. It was a nice couple of hours with Adventure Cat in the backyard, anyway.
The new show opened last night that I practically managed to forget about. I called the reservation line to take them down, and one woman said, "I'd like two seats for tonight," and I thought, "O yeah!" That wouldn't have been at all good. Then I got caught in some quite extraordinary traffic going in and nearly didn't make it at all, when I got there, the director for the first show was in that same traffic and not there yet, and she was supposed to have been the one to pick up the keys, though this theatre has a fire guard who could let us in so the actors weren't huddled on the street, weeping (because God forbid one of them go over and get the keys), and the programmes weren't there. It would have been nice had there been programmes, particularly since there were several playwrights there, but there was nothing to be done about it. Kelly and Andrew were doing a show, so afterwards I went to the bar with them, like I never do anymore. It was a fun evening. Maybe there will be programmes tonight! Here's hoping!
