(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

30 January

Dear God, yesterday was a bad day.

No no no, never fear, I didn't get in trouble at work again, it was a kind of bad day that you get without making mistakes yourself, but that was the only good thing about it. It's just so hard sometimes when people want money and you can't give it to them and you know that if they do repossess the cars that you will get in trouble even though you were the one begging for the bill to get paid, and no they can't wait until next week.

Sometimes Accounts Payable really sucks.

I was supposed to get together with Omar last night to work on his accents for Boys and for The Hostage and to cover him with blood, but I forgot the blood at home, so he canceled because it would be easier to do all at once.

Unfortunately, after the whole rental car thing, I was really down, and then he canceled and I just started spinning. He's really not much good when you are sad, Omar isn't, because I think what he likes when he is down is to crawl into a hole and not come out until Christmas, he doesn't want people around him, so when someone else is sad, he backs off because that's what he would want them to do.

When I'm sad, I do not want to be left alone, or I do unless I don't, if that makes sense. So we emailed back and forth a few times, and then he called me and we talked for half an hour--not about a single thing that was bothering me, just about any old thing.

When we hung up, I was fine. Clearly, all I need to feel better when I'm feeling down is to talk to Omar for half an hour. He's like a tonic.

When I got home I watched the last episode of Firefly that I had TiVoed, and no, I don't mean the two hour episode, I missed that one. I mean the extraordinary bounty hunter episode.

Man, was that the best episode or what? And yes, I know that it aired over a month ago, I was saving it because it was the last one, and as long as I didn't watch it, there was still one left to watch. But I watched it. And now it's over.

And it was the best one ever. Not the least of which because the bounty hunter was played by Richard Brooks, with whom I went to college. He's changed a bit, so I wasn't entirely certain that it was him at first, until he opened his mouth, then I knew for sure. What a well-written role, what a fun character, I'll bet he jumped up and down when he saw the script.

The best lines were, "Are you saying she's psychic? That's like something out of science fiction." "You live on a spaceship."

Today's horoscope:
Get in touch with your vast knowledge. Draw creatively from your endless resources. Whether you apply this valuable energy to your business or your art, great things will happen.

One year ago today:
The first act was the glorious Fairfield Four, and someday someone will tell me why there are five of them, singing "Po' Lazarus" and trying to start the audience clapping along, but we are New Yorkers and don't so much do that.
