13 January So yesterday was all about the hanging around the house. Boy, did I need it. It was such an un-restful vacation and this week at work was very bust, and then Saturday there was no sleeping in and much rushing around and even going into the office, yesterday was all about the sitting and the staring. I bathed. I watched TV. Ahhh.
One thing I watched was the new It Factor. I was, of course, obsessed with last year's version, and actually would rather have preferred to see another series about the same actors than new ones, but nobody asked me what the new series should be about and there you have it. During the day they were showing all of last years episodes, and though I wasn't watching them, I would see bits and pieces, and I would remember everyone and how crazy I was about them. Miranda! Jimmy! Chelsea! Daisy! Godfrey! Can the new cast match up? Well, they just might be able to! I mean, clearly the idea is to get these people who have this spark to them, this ability to talk and be interesting and funny just in their regular lives, and though there was one guy in the auditions that I have no idea why they didn't pick, so far the cast seems like they might be worth hanging out with. Smartly, they only chose nine rather than twelve actors, since twelve was too many to really pay proper attention to, and I remember that Michaela and Queen Esther were a bit ignored, for two. So far I really dig the brother and sister and the model, Jennifer, who is terribly funny and clever. A nice twist on what you really think a 25 year old model would be like. This is so great! You people can keep your Survivors and your Joe Millionaires and your Bachelorettes, just give me a bunch of actors throwing themselves up against the brick wall that is Hollywood, and I'm happy as a clam.
Last week when I went out with Anne, on the way home I passed the HMV on 42nd St. and it was going out of business! 40% off! Everything! So I went in and spent waaaay too much money and will have to be eating stone soup until next paycheck and walking through the Lincoln Tunnel, but 40% off was too good to miss. I got Kate and Leopold, Hellraiser, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, The Salton Sea, Bandits, Rough Magic, Broken Vows, and Heaven's Burning and the cd Down the Old Plank Road by the Chieftains. I also got a present that I will give Cynthia for her birthday that I will not describe here. I got a couple of movies that I love, a couple of movies that I like, and a couple of movies by actors that I am obsessed with (Russell, Tommy Lee, Vincent), a good evening's work. $133 I spent. Yep, stone soup.
