Since when has there been nothing else happening in the news except for the flu?

The big news is that there isn't much vaccine yet, and they are saving it for the old and the young and the asthmatic. I, of course, am asthmatic, and I'm thinking "Dear God, dear God, I have to get a flu shot! Danger! Danger!!" And then I remember that I never got a flu shot in my life until a few years ago, and every single year there is flu and though they say that 36,000 Americans a year die of the flu, it's kind of unlikely that it will be me.

Most people just kind of get the flu. You rest, you take liquids, you ride it out, and if I get the flu, then it will be like every other damn year that I have gotten the flu for crying out loud.

Damn, I was all set to tell this hilarious story about getting a 37¢ check as a result of a Citibank class action suit, but was totally trumped by Stranger Than Fiction.

Goddamn. It's twelve days until Christmas and I have done exactly no shopping, nor sent out any cards (though I have handed some out), nor done any of the 200 things that I need to do before going home for Christmas in five days.

Argh!

Hey, I may not have any potential waiting to be realized, but at least I don't have to go to high school anymore! I get to be a grown-up! I get to live my life on my own terms! I don't have to do homework or worry about grades or finals or anything, I'm living the life of Riley!
