(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

23 April

So last night we had our first rehearsal for the show that I didn't so much want to do.

It took a little work to cast it, and I ended up with Big Al, whom I adore, a girl who will actually be out of town for almost the entire rehearsal period, and a woman that I worked with before whom I didn't think was all that good but who has the most beautiful apartment in the entire world to rehearse in, so it was alright by me.

And then, when we did the first readthrough, she was extremely good! Perhaps the problem with that other show was the fact that it was horrible, and some people just cannot transcend bad material. Also, she was kind of miscast. Anyway, she is pretty much the lead in this, and she just nailed it right away.

Big Al is perfect as the stage manager, the two girls playing the daughters are fine, and actually look alike, the son will probably be fine, and the guy playing the father is around 55 or so and this is the first play he has been in since the sixth grade. He's a little stiff, but it's exactly right for the character, so that's okay.

I might just end up being glad that I'm doing this. It's a really sweet show.

Lenten entries missed:

Patrick came to NY to interview for The Actors Studio and to visit me, got sick, didn't get into some grad schools, didn't get into some other grad schools, and had a play performed in The Boston Theatre Marathon. I believe absolutely in things getting better for you, Patrick! And ignore the fact that I believe a lot of silly things, I know I'm write about this one.

Today's horoscope:
Look on the bright side of this. The world doesn't turn at your say-so, but that means it can provide you with some lovely surprises you never would've dreamed up. Study a malfunction for clues to how things really work.

One year ago today:
This morning, I left the house and it was really super-cold and blowy, a "where the hell did I put my gloves" kind of cold, but the sun was bright and I could feel something inside me unfolding like a fan.
