25 September Last night I dreamed of England for the second or third day in a row, as though I'm on vacation in my dreams. In my dream, I had an audition and was trying to remember my monologue. I haven't had an audition where I had to bring a monologue in absolutely centuries, but since I wrote the piece that I used to use, I should certainly be able to remember it, and thus I spent half of my dream going, "Ever since I was a little kid, I always wanted to fly. I always wanted to fly..." There was a dance audition as well, which was much more nightmarish, as I really couldn't get the combination. When I woke up, I was very glad that I don't do those kinds of auditions anymore.
Because we cannot do anything checkwise or invoicewise this week, I did something that I have been putting off for weeks, if not months. Filing! I filed like a maniac, and felt most virtuous. Go ahead, ask me for any expense report from the first half of the alphabet! Ask me, I dare you, don't think I don't know where they are, because I filed them! Ta-daaa! For an encore, I'll log this week's incoming mail. You can't stop me!
On my way home on the van, I was looking out the window when we came out of the tunnel, and there was the most gorgeous moon over the cityscape that I just had to miss my stop and go down the boulevard to the outlook point. It was so amazingly beautiful, I stood there for probably half an hour shooting pictures. I don't know why I don't do it more often, but honestly that is only the second time since I have moved here that I have done this, the first time being September 11th. It's like five blocks from my house! Five! And I never ever walk in that direction. Hopefully I will from now on, it's just too pretty to waste such a view because I'm too bone idle to occasionally take a few steps in the other direction from my house.
When I got home, inspired by the Emmys, I watched Will and Grace for the first time. Know what? It's a really good show! I know, you're all surprised, what with it being on for five years and winning several awards and going to the big Thursday night lineup and so on, but I am a little slow. And the best part is that I was able to watch it from the beginning, because the are starting with the pilot in syndication on channel 11. It's also on WGN every night, so I'll be able to watch it twice a night from different points in the series. You know, because I do not watch nearly enough motherfucking television.
After Will and Grace I watched the first CSI Miami, which is just dandy. It has a lot of personality right from the top, but it wasn't too bluntly pilot-y. I love that they used another Who song for the theme song, and I like the way the medical examiner talks to the corpses, but the best bit was the incredibly sexual moment between David Caruso and Kim Delaney while re-creating the crime. Neither of the characters seemed to notice it, they are not playing it, there is just something about Caruso that make it when he leans into a women, you have to fan yourself vigorously. Cause he's a hunka hunka burnin' ginger-haired love. Ginger-skinned soon, likely, what with all the outdoor shooting in Miami.
