7 September I dreamt last night that all of my dreams came true for all of my friends, meaning that they all got the things that I wanted for myself, even really specific things. It was hugely annoying.
So, yesterday I was asked to do a second panel at JournalCon, which of course I jumped at, to the great glee of the organizers who have to chivvy and beg the less full-of-themselves journallers to participate. Me they have to physically stop from being in all of the panels, no matter how inappropriate. It's KymmCon! Anyway, I'm doing two panels, I have a hotel reservation and a roommate, everything is all planned, the one thing that I did not have was a plane ticket. It wasn't that I forgot, it was that when I first started looking, two or three months ago, all I was seeing was in the $350-$400 range. Now I don't know about you, but if I spend that amount of money to go somewhere for the weekend, I had better be flying first class in a solid gold plane where the flight attendants give you foot rubs and head. When I saw my flight attendant friend Ty at the French festival, I asked him whether he thought that prices would go down, and he said that since everyone was declaring bankruptcy, he thought they would. I've been checking back and forth, and it had gone down a bit, but even last week it was still over $250, and I decided to wait a bit longer. Well, yesterday after all of the JournalCon emails, I thought I'd bound over to Travelocity and see what was the what. $149. $149 round trip New York to San Francisco! Score! I called Mom, since I won't have the money until I get paid Friday, and used her credit card with glee. So there you have it, I'm not going to be screwing this up by waiting until the last minute! I also found a good price to go home for Christmas while I was at it and bought that. Mom asked me to check and see what they had to Burbank Airport, since that's five minutes from my house, and it was $50 more than going into LAX. "Is it worth $50 not to have to drive to LAX twice?" "You bet it is, take it!" So in a few minutes I went from having no tickets or travel plans to basically being done for the year.
