28 November Originally, Lisa and RDC and I were going to go see Metamorphoses together when they were in town, but then I was going to Omar's for Thanksgiving and I knew that I wouldn't be able to leave work early that night. Then I wasn't going to Omar's, and I thought I might be able to make it, but I wasn't sure. On Monday, Lisa called me at work, and I told her I could go, but I couldn't both go to the show at night and get the tickets in the morning, but one person can only get two seats. Unfortunately, RDC wasn't available to do the line with Lisa, so that was it for me. I didn't so much mind, though I did want to go. I let it go, though. Then, Tuesday morning, Lisa called me from the line, asking if I still wanted to go, because she had made friends with the girls behind her in the line and they would get me a ticket. You bet I did! Of course, it was the rush rush super-rush to get there on time, what with the last-minute FedExing and the traffic and so on, but I just made it. The bag-checker girl recognized me again. I really do think that I never have any call to make fun of Rent fans ever again as long as I live, what with my sitting there thinking, "Hey, Kyle and Doug have gotten haircuts!" The show was glorious, completely glorious. No understudies were in, Chris was there looking as beautiful as the dawn, the new guy, other Chris (Midas), has settled in beautifully to the role, and everything was right with the world. Lisa turned to me after it was over with shining eyes, declaring it to be the greatest show she has ever seen. At the end, they announced that all of the Broadway theatres were collecting money for Broadway Cares-Equity Fights AIDS, and there were incentives of autographed programmes and posters and so on. $40 for a good cause and I get an autographed poster? What could be better than that? They wrapped it up in plastic, which I was glad of later, as it started to rain. Afterwards, we went to Vynl and ate, all in a glow. Every so often, I need to be filled up with Metamorphoses again. I don't think that the Wild Mouse will hit again soon, not so long as this show is inside of me filling me with possibilities. "It's just inevitable. The soul wanders in the dark until it finds love. And so, wherever our love goes, there we find our soul."
