(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

21 May

Because this show is a horror that will not end, I went to rehearsal last night and found out that Brian dropped out.

Is this show cursed or what? I cannot really blame him, because who would want to do a show with only two rehearsals, no tech, and only two performances, because he was nearly certain to miss opening night. Admittedly, Tony had given him the wrong dates, but I think that perhaps he shouldn't have accepted the show in the first place, since he was going to Boston for three days and Cancun for seven during the extremely short rehearsal period.

So now we need to find a boy again, for a show that opens on the 31st. I called Fran, but he's doing this short film and is unavailable. He's only busy once a decade or so, but that's now, unfortunately.

Tony has a couple of people he can call, so we'll probably get someone, and if not, he'll play the role, but I'd rather that he didn't, because he's been reading it in from the beginning and so far I have not been impressed. Though I know he can act, because I saw him in Much Ado, so I don't know what's up with that.

Ayse got real squirrelly last night, all asking about whether the show can be moved back, that we don't have enough time and so on, which is foolish. Both Tony and I are very calm and fatalistic about the whole thing, it always comes together, like in Shakespeare in Love, "It's a mystery!" and the show is in really good shape, fully cast or not. I have no idea what she is going on about.

Her schedule has turned difficult as well, her wedding which started out as two days that she couldn't be at rehearsal, turned into four, and now is suddenly six! Again, why would you accept a role when you are getting married, no matter how simply, in the middle of rehearsals?

I'm going to be alone on the stage, acting to ghost actors (like ghost runners in baseball), and don't think I don't know it.

Went home and watched my beloved Evil Dead, that wouldn't play on my DVD player until I got it fixed. Watched it three times, actually, over the past couple of days, once straight, once with Rob and Sam's commentary track, and once with Bruce's.

Of all three, I really like this one the best, it's really scary, they did so much with so little, and went through hell in the making of it, and the commentaries are absolutely hilarious. They all three spend a great deal of time ragging on Ash, though Sam and Rob mostly spend their ragging time claiming that Bruce is just like Ash in real life.

ASH

You bastards! Why are you torturing me? Why?

BRUCE
Because you're so stupid.

Lenten entries missed:

Judith thought about moving, her husband bought a suit, she did not want eleven bathrooms, and she went through the labyrinth of city codes.

Today's horoscope:
Mechanical items are involved in the financial picture. Repairs are possible. If shopping for a new object, check it out carefully.

One year ago today:
Plus, Bruce Willis spends a good deal of the movie either shirtless or close to it, sweaty, dirty, and covered in blood, and we all know how that is my bag.
