(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

14 May

I was dreaming last night that I was on this shopping trip, and it wasn't until I woke up that I particularly noted that my Dad was on the trip with me. And I started smiling, because it was so nice to spend a couple of hours with him, even if it was just in a dream.

Wow, did it ever piss down rain yesterday!

It was raining a little when I went to work, and then I didn't leave the building all day, though I heard tales of arks and floods and things, but I though when I finally got out of there at 9.30p I was pretty certain to have missed the worst of it.

Ha ha ho.

It was raining a bit when I left the office, but not so very much, so I didn't think much about it--I was wearing a baseball cap, I had a jacket on, I was invincible! In the van, on the way home, I noticed that the windows were leaking. On me. And then when we got out of the tunnel, it started leaking alot. On me.

I bolted from my seat, tired of getting my arm wet, but somehow the penny had not dropped, and I was still surprised when the door to the van opened and I saw that sheet of water that I was supposed to step out into.

I was soaked to the skin before I got to the corner, since this was one of the drivers who won't let me off at the corner and I had to trudge up the hill. But it wasn't that long a walk, there was no reason whatsoever for me to get that wet. You know, except for all the rain.

My jeans looked as though I had pulled them from the wash and was too impatient to dry them, my shoes and socks, even my underwear, were completely drenched. All from a 45 second walk. Once I got to the corner, I had to wait for the light to change, but I really couldn't get any wetter. And the street was such a complete waterfall that a car hydroplaned me, and I was not only standing well back from the curb, but the car was in the second lane over!

I din't even yell epithets at him, there wasn't a thing he could have done not to splash me, save maybe for getting out and pushing his car up the block, but even then, I don't know.

Made it home in time to see that dreadful Mary Tyler Moore reunion special.

I mean, the show clips were great, but them talking about the show and all of their characters in the third person, and about how great Mary is, and about how they were a family got really old really fast.

They should have had more backstage talk, or outtakes or something. Anything but telling the plots of episodes to each other. What a yawnfest. And Mary is the greatest example living of why actresses should never marry plastic surgeons. She's starting to look like Katherine Helmond in Brazil.

Lenten entries missed:

Athena didn't feel very pregnant, found out she is having a boy, showed a belly picture, painted a room, went to a ball game, took a Labor and Delivery tour, sorted through her mother's photos and lost a friend.
