(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

9 May

So recently I clicked on my Launchcast station that had formerly been blocked by my office, presumably because it's a hideous bandwidth-sucker, and it played again! Hooray!

Which means that I have been rediscovering all of these songs that I rated like a year ago or whatever, and it's been a real treat, especially since I am making this mix tape that I have to re-make, so I am being reminds of all of these songs.

That I now want to add to the tape. It's getting more and more complicated, but now suddenly there are all these songs in my head that I cannot live without. Which meant that yesterday I took a long lunch and went down to Virgin and bought some new cds!

And, unlike my recent foray, none were duds, in fact, all are great. I got India.Arie's Acoustic Soul, Sublime's Sublime and Moxy Fruvous' Bargainville, which make up quite a range of music.

They are, like I said, all good, all really good, but Bargainville is about the best album that I now own, possibly the best album that I have ever heard in my life. Moxy Fruvous is this amazing band, very like Squirrel Nut Zippers and Barenaked Ladies and They Might Be Giants, and other quirky bands with five syllable names.

There are fifteen songs on the album, about ten of them are the songs that you sit up straight for and go, "O, this one, I love this song!" and the other five are only great, you know, instead of perfect. I put it in my cd player and let it play for about ten hours straight.

I love it so much that I'm afraid to even think about getting any of their other albums. I mean, how could they possibly measure up? Not to mention, how can I choose which songs to go on my mix tape? If I'm not careful, it won't be so much a mix tape as an exact copy of Bargainville! My mix club will say, "Um, weren't there supposed to be, well, a mix of songs? You know, by more than the one artist?"

Lenten entries missed:

Jessamyn got a letter from her father, took some beautiful pictures in Chinatown, did some reading on the El, admits to her potty mouth and had chocolate in her pocket.
