(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

19 June

Woke up yesterday morning with a headache, mostly from being over-tired, I think.

The Raccoon wasn't in the office yesterday, nor were the Lord God King of Accounting, the Assistant Lord God King of Accounting, and someone else whom I don't have a name for. So I really thought that I should get in early, but since I went in early on Monday, because I wasn't sure if The Raccoon would be there, I just couldn't bear to do it twice in a row.

I thought I'd shoot for 10a and get up at 8.30a, but I got up to go to the bathroom right before my alarm went off, and I thought that if I didn't get some more sleep, I'd fall over dead like a felled tree, so I went back to bed, just in time for the alarm to ring. I thought about just sleeping 'til 10a and doing the "get dressed, feed the cats, get out of the house in fifteen minute" polka, but I thought no, I should get in early, I'll just hit snooze a couple of times.

Of course I hit it until 9.45a, and was much more tired having slept in 9 minute increments than if I had just re-set the alarm. Weirdly, I got to work at 10.30a, so I was still early after all, go figure.

So, on Day Two of the Week of No Money At All Not Even a Little Bit, I scoured my kitchen for snack-y things that I could bring in, especially since I certainly didn't have a minute to have any breakfast, even if I did have anything breakfast-y that I wanted to eat, which I didn't.

And lunch, lunch, what about lunch? I have some soup, but no more mac and cheese and I'm low on potatoes, not to mention the fact that I didn't have the twenty minutes necessary to make mashed potatoes or rice, but then I remembered that I do have frozen TV dinners!

So I felt a little silly, but I had a Swanson's meatloaf dinner for lunch. I know that lots of other people in my office do stuff like that, but I feel that actually cooking something for lunch at work, even in the microwave is a little peculiar. It was very yummy, though. Poking holes for the steam to come through with a plastic coffee stirrer took some stubbornness, but it all worked out, and I did not spend another day having to sell my mother and dine on my own foot like Erysichthon when he had Hunger on his back.

I really need to remember the joy and control of extreme hunger. Easier when it's a choice and not forced by circumstances, though.

Weirdly, I recently have been blocked from hitting Colleen or bgirl or Carrie from work, and it was only yesterday that it occurred to me that they all have the word "girl" in the URL, triggirl, bgirl and redhairedgirl. I guess that the blocking software is totally sexist--doesn't like girls. On the other had, Annegrrl is coming through fine, so maybe the blocking software is in fact hardcore feminist rather than sexist--still doesn't like girls, but has no problem with grrls.

Of course I know the real problem, Colleen, bgirl and Carrie are porn sites. The fact that there is no porn on them doesn't mean a thing, the inclusion of the word "girl" makes you think about girls' nasty places, and that is just not conducive to a working atmosphere.

I'd complain, but it's really hard to say, "This non-work related website that I want to read in order to avoid actually working is being blocked! And it's not fair!"

Big Theatre news today, though. First I heard that both of Patrick's shows that I had submitted to the Samuel French Festival have gone in, On the Way Home and Clerestory, and I'm really happy. All I have to do is make sure that I get Kirsten, which is iffy as she is doing Macbeth and that might be a conflict, she is going to have to see. If she can't do it, Cynthia said that she would, and she'd be really good in the role, but I'd prefer Kirsten simply because that makes that much less rehearsal!

I'm really happy about being able to do the shows again, and I'm really happy for Patrick, being in the French is pretty cool for a playwright, and if we win, he gets published. And I truly love Clerestory to the depth of my soul--I can't imagine anything else winning the evening.

The second theatre thing is that I got the dates for Sister Mary, which I don't think I mentioned yet, but it's Durang's Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All For You with Ann and Omar (my cast of On the Way Home) and a girl from the last evening I was in, and a couple of strangers, but that's a fun show, if slightly hysterically anti-Catholic, and Ann is perfect as the lead.

So, that's mid-July, and I am going to Canada in the beginning of July, and there's a kid in the show, and then the French is at the beginning of August, and and and...I think I just got real busy again.

Today's horoscope:
Friends, groups or organizations are involved in your money matters today. Be open to advice, but make the final decisions.

One year ago today:
...of course, I don't really remember them anymore, but for one little bit of my mother urging me to watch a TV version of Oliver Twist starring Tom Skerritt and Carrottop.
