(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

18 June

There are these trees on my street that are blooming now, and it's just the most astonishing thing, the air is filled with scent. I love walking down my street when the trees are in bloom.

If I knew what they were, I'd find a perfume that smells like them, but it's kind of nice that it's this special thing that happens once a year, half forgotten until suddenly the air is redolent again.

This is the Week of Poverty, that's for certain.

I have $13.73 to last until Friday. That sounds like plenty, you know, until you realize that I spend $3.50 a day on transportation, which leaves me $3.23 to spend like a drunken sailor. That's a soda a day yesterday through Wednesday, no soda on Thursday.

Yesterday, I brought some macaroni and cheese for lunch, but it wasn't much, and I forgot to have breakfast, so I was gnawing off my own foot by the end of the day. I don't have that much lunchable stuff in the house, so clearly this is God telling me that I need to re-start my diet.

Of course, I had done so anyway, but this will keep me on track. No Paydays or Chuckles from the evil vending machine, nothing but chewing on the inside of my own cheek.

Christ, I am so behind here, I have so much to write, and since I got into the office early today, I was able to work my regular ten hours and yet leave the office while it was still light, not to mention get home while it was still light!

And what did I do? Did I get any writing done? Nope, sat in my chair and knat and watched Sarah Michelle Gellar on Revealved With Jules Asner and an episode of Law and Order With Big V, and the fabulous season ender of Alias.

There is really some world-class acting on that show. I know that most people watch it for the all pretty youth, all of whom are very good actors, but I'm there to watch the peerless Victor Garber and Ron Rifkin, the latter of whom was astounding in that scene with Amy Irving and the wine.

I do love the way, though, that two of the smoothest song and dance men on Broadway, Victor Garber and Jerry Orbach, are now two of the toughest guys on television.

And see? Look how much knitting I have been doing! It's like four feet long, and I still have tons of wool left. It's going to be the world's longest scarf, handy for re-wrapping any mummies you might run across.

Today's horoscope:
Computerized records could be a factor in financial matters today. Repairs are also a possible focus, as are medicine, tools or friends.

One year ago today:
...and part of which is that it is a sin not to appreciate a beautiful summer evening, no matter what is happening.
