(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

24 July

So, it rained yesterday, and I never heard such fuss in my life about a little bit of rain.

On the news yesterday morning, they kept warning that the rain would come, the rain would come and the thunder and it would cool down, then all day long on the radio they kept saying exactly where is was raining, and that it was coming closer to the city, closer and closer! Closer, I say! The rain! It was coming!! Water! From the sky! I'm not even kidding!

By the time I left the office at 9p, it was drizzling vaguely, perhaps the monsoon had occurred earlier, as the streets were, in fact, slightly damp.

I have no idea why everyone was practically stripping the store shelves of milk and bread, let alone why everyone was so excited that it would break the heat. Yesterday was Tuesday, did no-one remember that only on Friday, a mere four days previously, it rained like a motherfucker, and not only did the world not, in fact, end, but the heat broke for about 14 seconds before zooming back up into the stratosphere again.

It's July. It's the northeast. It's hot and sometimes it rains. Can we all calm down now?

"So, going to Starbucks again today?"
"God no, I can't afford it. I brought macaroni and cheese for lunch."
"Ah, poor food."

It's not fair that I have to act as though I'm waiting for payday when payday was just on Friday! But then, when I got home from work, my new bank card had arrived a day early, thank goodness.

I ran to the supermarket and got money and bought food and cat litter and Pepsi and skipped home and practically rolled around in the cash like in the movies, but it doesn't work so well with only five $20 bills. Not as impressive.

But yay! No more borrowing and I can buy my mother's and Beth's and Kim's birthday presents and I can finally take Katie to see Metamorphoses on Sunday. I realized that the reason that I have been feeling a little jumpy lately is because the Metamorphoses level in my bloodstream is too low.

Today's horoscope:
Feeling good on the job is extra important today. Look for tasks with a smooth easy flow, where you need not work too hard.

One year ago today:
Well, apparently I was born on somebody else's birthday!
