23 July So I am busted flat broke. After coming into the city, I counted all of my pennies and am down to my last $5. And my new bank card might not arrive until as late as Friday! I brought in lunch, half a pound of roast beast that looked good at the supermarket on Sunday, and I had enough to buy a soda, but I don't think they'd look kindly on my not coming into work this week because I can't afford the van. So I borrowed $15 from The Raccoon. And the very first thing I did with that $15, was take it down to Starbucks and spend $4.49 on a chai crème frappuccino. You know you're addicted when the first moment you have any money you don't think about food or transport or cat litter anything useful like that, but about the drug. Next I'm going to be selling my blood and stealing from my family in order to trade stereo equipment for just one more grande. I checked with Mo, the Queen of Starbucks, as to the caloric count of them chai crème frappuccinos, and she said about 350. I'm sure they are more like 1,000,000, but I have decided to believe her. I also believe that I can flap my arms and fly to the moon, but there you have it. On the other hand, they are so filling that I could easily go on a chai crème frappuccino fast. Not the healthiest diet on earth, but I would certainly fulfill all of my dairy needs! As well as getting the recommended daily amount of, um, chai.
My office is like a meat locker. I swear, I have gotten to the point that having to warm my hands every few minutes doesn't phase me, but when my legs are cold through my jeans, I know that it's too damn cold! I would take the opportunity any time that I could to go out and try to soak a little heat into my skin. I stayed late enough to take a car, and when I got in, it was Meat Locker Revisited! I left my window open in order to get the nice warm air in I never thought I'd be so happy for it to be 80º after 10p. It took me two hours to warm up enough after getting home to turn on the fan.
Waiting for the car, I knitted a row on my scarf. Just one row, why bother? Because I have not knitted a single stitch since I was in Canada. I was so busy with the show, and I was (am still) so many entries behind, that when I was at home, I felt like I was wasting my time if I wasn't writing or taking things off of TiVo. But now, I can relax, I can knit, I can do overtime at work. Of course, come this weekend I'm starting to rehearse fro the French, but that will be nothing like the time-stealer that Sister Mary was. I am free, and to celebrate my freedom, I knitted one row last night.
