7 January I dreamt last night that Lucy was heir to the vast Winterbottom estates, that she wasn't in the direct line, but they had died out and she was the next closest relative, and she and John were considering adopting a child so that they could keep the inheritance in their branch of the family when they died. And yes, the term "vast Winterbottom estates" was in my dream. I have been watching far too many British mystery TV shows the past few day. I think this dream came directly from Diana Riggs' Mrs. Bradley Mysteries. The episode on yesterday starred the lovely Peter Davison, who will always, no matter how bald, middle-aged and jowly he gets, be Tristan to me. And, of course, my darling Campion.
Another weird sleep, in that I was awakened at 7a by the Horrible Children Upstairs (who have been much more Horrible since the dog is no longer penned in the kitchen, so they can do the running and the jumping and the screaming right over my head) and then lay awake until 8.30a, when I fell so completely asleep that when my alarm rang at 9a, I hit snooze until 10a, which is when I have to leave the house. And then, when I left the house it was snowing! Just the other day I was wearing sandals in Los Angeles, this is just wrong.
Spent another day barely moving anything but my eyes and my mouse hand, and stayed in my jammies all day, getting back into them after I hosed myself off to remove the top layer of filth. I did do some useful stuff, (go figure!), making my December archive page, and my January and 2002 pages, not to mention updating all the pages that needed the December and January links added to them, so I felt as though I had accomplished much. Around 8p I realized that I had no Pepsi, so off to the store I went in my jammies, even after realizing that it was pouring down rain. I went upstairs to get my umbrella, and Cynthia asked what the hell I was thinking to go out in this weather, and I answered:
"I'm out of Pepsi. It's as though Fran were out of beer, neither snow not rain nor gloom of night..." and then Fran came into the room, catching the end of that.
Then I came home and watched many episodes of Sex and the City before going to bed at a reasonable hour. Hold me back! My life is crazy!!
