6 January I got up at 3p this morning. Or afternoon. Whatever. Nothing makes a day feel as though you have missed the whole day than to have less than two hours of daylight in it.
Good news! My broken space heater isn't so broken after all, in fact, it isn't broken one bit! So either it was just tired at the end of last winter when the motor would whir and no heat would come out of it and it just needed a nice long rest, or the way to fix a space heater is to leave it on the floor and knock it over several times and let it get entirely full of cat hair. Either way, I spent a happy day yesterday with it blowing on my feet, and plan to spend today in the same exact manner. My idea of a good weekend.
Yesterday I spent almost the entire day in pyjamas, except for in the evening when I couldn't put off going to the store any longer, because there was no cat food. I had dry food, but had run out of wet food, and the way that the cats get fed is they get wet food in the morning and in the evening, and dry food between meals. They love dry food and look on it as a treat, but they get somewhat perturbed when they are given it for their meals. Because it is not for meals, you see, it is for between meals! And how can you have between meals without having meals? You cannot! So even if there is dry food in the bowls, they will not eat it, because they want their meals! You cannot eat the dry food until there has been a meal, because it is for between the meals! Which part of this are you not getting? So I got dressed and went out and got them wet food, because too much of that between meal cat logic sets my head spinning. Also, I needed chicken cordon bleu and Pepsi. But other than that, all I did was sit at my computer and go through my email, which was a hell of a job, since my server had decided that 1400 of the 2100 emails that I got when I was gone were so important that I needed to get them four times each, so I needed to go through thousands of emails, removing them from the server, or leaving them on but getting rid of the other three copies. It was all terribly tiresome, but at least I have a reasonable number of emails now, and have gone through all of my mailing list email and given everything at least a cursory glance, though I was getting more cavalier about anything marked OT from my Randy Newman group, because they can get very OT. I still have to answer approximately nine million personal emails, but at least the lists are under control, not to mention all of those penis spam mails.
