(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

3 January

010302, there's an entertaining date if I've ever seen one! Doesn't take much to make me happy, clearly.

Had a bad night, as I kept either not sleeping or dreaming that I couldn't sleep, which is not at all restful. Or sometimes I would dream that I was traveling and had lost my luggage, which is equally not conducive to rest.

I did not actually lose any luggage yesterday, but I spent enough time humping it around to make its existence foremost in my mind.

My trip yesterday was less action packed than last year's, but since I have already missed a flight this trip it would have been redundant to do it again. And I am anything but repetitious.

Got up on time to go to Kinko's and upload, though Mom did decide that 7a of the day that I am leaving is the perfect time to start asking me how to find Microsoft Works on her computer, and my traveling outfit of browny-grey pyjamas was still damp so I had to go to Kinko's in my lavender and green pyjamas, but I figure that the Kinko's staff at 7.30a is used to odder sights than that from the people who use their computers. Or couldn't care less, which is more likely.

So I did that and then we drove to the airport (after getting out of my pyjamas and putting on my other pyjamas, I swear, pyjama traveling is so totally the way to go!) and Mom only complained 250 times that though I had brought her suitcase back to give back to her, I had to take it back again because I had too much to pack and why didn't I bring a second suitcase of mine packed inside the first one, and I was at the airport in plenty of time, even with stopping for breakfast at McDonald's drive-through.

The flight to Denver was fun in that the had the most entertaining cabin crew that I have ever seen, and I mean really witty and fun, not painfully trying to be witty and fun. The stewardess for my section even got applause for her safety instructions, she did them so well, and she had a little bottle of bubbles that she would blow at people. It really was terribly charming.

The head stewardess, who was narrating the safety instructions said, "In case the flight becomes a cruise..." which is so much nicer than thinking of the dreaded "water landing," and then our funny stewardess said over the loudspeaker that, "Sally, the head flight attendant, has just gotten flight attendant of the month, so if you want anything ask her, because the rest of us didn't get anything and so we don't feel like giving anything to you!"

Frontier is a pretty low-rent airline, and my Christ the sandwich that I got on the second flight was rank, but they have a staff with a fun attitude, which I'll take over a decent sandwich any day.

On the other hand, my plane that I transferred to in Denver was late. It was supposed to be an hour an a half late, but since we didn't touch down at LaGuardia until two hours late, I think that we took off even later. They announced that they were waiting for people. Man, when it's me who's late they don't hold any planes for my ass.

On that flight, I was sitting by two sisters, a twelve or thirteen year old with a cast on her knee and a nine year old who was in the middle seat. They were very nice girls, but I found it interesting that the nine year old could not distinguish between her body and mine. It didn't bother me, she wasn't kicking, but there wasn't the sense of personal space that you get with adults.

The plane landed at 11.30p, like I said, and I went right to the phone to call Cynthia, since Mom had called her for me to tell her that I would be in the city by 10.30p for her to pick me up.

"Well, it's about time!"
"Actually, I'm still at the airport, I just landed."
"O God..."
"And the busses aren't running, so I'll take a cab and then I can try to get on a van with all of this luggage, but I don't know..."
"Just get into town before 1a and I'll pick you up."

So I grabbed a cab and got to the Port Authority, then decided to try a van after all, so I asked the dispatcher if all of my luggage would be fine, and he said yes, but the bad mean creepy driver said that two suitcases was wrong and bad and unthinkable, so I put a curse on him that he will die of a particularly rare and painful form of cancer, because I have decided that saying that I hope the van crashes is not fair to the passengers (see how thoughtful I am?), and called Cynthia to come pick me up. Which she did with minimal complaining.

Then I was home! I couldn't manage to download all of my email before going to bed, which is alot of damn email, but I was able to put my jeans in the wash after two weeks without a washing machine, so there is sweet with the bitter.

Back to work this morning. Argh.

Today's horoscope:
Shifts in relationships are possible as you feel torn between friends and loved ones, or between getting close and getting away.

One year ago today:
We were driving along fine, though I heard something on the radio about two left lanes closed due to an overturned truck on the 405, I did not connect that with my going to the airport, until we got on the 405.
