(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

26 February

You'll never guess what I did yesterday. I sent my photos to the American Photo contest! Five months ahead of schedule!

I mean, it's not as though I won't be making lots more prints over the months and sending them in, but why not send them in as I go? Besides the fact that it must be better to send them in early, before the judges eyes are tired of looking at pictures.

You know what I did Sunday? I laid on my bed and watched movies!

I don't have a sofa, you see, and only sit at my desk in my living room and watch TV from there, but for some reason, I find it very uncomfortable sitting in that chair and watching movies on my laptop. There's something about it being right there six inches from my face, sitting bolt upright, staring at the screen that makes me feel as though I'm taking a test or something.

And it suddenly occur to me, if I go lie down on This Island Bed, then I can stretch out and I can read magazines and I can eat cereal, and it's all so comfy and swell and I felt as though I discovered plutonium. Eureka! I cried.

Yes, yes, I know, many people have noticed that spending the day hanging out on your bed is a fun thing to do, but I'm a little slow, okay?

And what did I watch? My Netflix DVDs, all three of them, Croupier, Jacob's Ladder and Tootsie.

What a great trio! I had never seen the first two, but ever since Gosford Park I have been dying to see Clive Owen in basically anything, but especially Croupier because I had skipped it when it first came out. What the hell was I thinking? What a smart, interesting, unpredictable film, and I could just eat Clive Owen up with a spoon.

Jacob's Ladder, of course I knew the ending because the movie is like ten years old, how could I not know? But I didn't know all of the revelations, and I didn't know the journey. It's quite an interesting movie, and very scary. Whatever you do, though, do not watch that making-of documentary before watching the film, because they give away every single bit of the story in the first one minute and 50 seconds of it.

One can only imagine that said documentary was not made at the time in order to urge people to go see the movie, because it really makes seeing the movie unnecessary.

And Tootsie? Well, Tootsie was perfect. Tootsie is always perfect.

Today's horoscope:
Give up your habit of underestimating your abilities. You're much better than you think!

One year ago today:
"This French Toast is almost perfect, almost worthy of being eaten by myself, but it is not quite right, it needs something, now what could it be? Ah yes, one molecule of syrup! Now it is perfection incarnate!"
