24 February O God, o God, my heart is broken. Okay, that looks a little dramatic and I don't want to scare anyone, it's just the The It Factor is over and I am very sad!! I have just been obsessed with the show and all of the actors therein, well, most of the actors therein, and am thrilled to see one of them somewhere. And now it is over! Aaarghhh! I guess now I get the whole Survivor thing, and trust me when I say that this is not only the only reality show I've ever liked, it is also the only reality show that I have ever watched even a frame of. Maybe I've seen a couple of minutes of The Real World over the years, but no, I think what I am remembering are parodies of The Real World. Never watched Cops, never watched The Mole, never watched Boot Camp, never watched any of any other reality series that I cannot remember the name of. And I love documentaries, I'll watch a documentary on almost any subject with rapt attention, and I love biography type shows like, well, Biography and VH1 Behind the Music and Backstory, but somehow reality shows were always in a different category in my head. And you know what? They still are! The It Factor was different because it was about struggling actors, aka my people. I'm sure I'd be into a series about struggling photographers and singers and directors as well, though struggling accountants, not so much. Thirteen episodes about me and 2/3rds of the people that I've ever known in my life, who can pass that up? Not me, baby. And they were just so great and so interesting, and I loved them all, even the ones that I didn't particularly care for. I was walking to the bus the other week, walking past this cafe/theatre on 42nd St. that always has headshots in the front window of the show that's currently running, and I usually look because I usually know one of the actors in it. And this time I looked and went "O my God, it's PJ!" And I don't much like PJ! Also this guy Barry from Love Creek was in the show, so the next time I see him I know I'll be all like, "You worked with PJ, is he as big a bitch as he seemed to be?" And I was watching The Job a couple of weeks ago, and there was Jimmy in a tiny role! I know I'll recognize these people forever. Except for Nathan, whom I couldn't pick out of a lineup, he was barely on the show and looks like every other 25 year old actor in NY. And Kevin, whom I would recognize, but who will never get a job, because he is almost completely talent-free. But Queen Esther and Kathryn and Chelsea and Godfrey? I'll recognize them after I have forgotten all of my real friends entirely. The one I'll most miss is Miranda, who ended the series with a starring role in a Canadian TV series called Patti that was shooting six episodes. But did they shoot more? Was it a hit? Have they even showed it yet? I want to knoooow, but the show is oooover! O, wait, on IMDb it says that it will start playing 27 April, so all you Canadians have to watch it and report back to me, okay? Okay, I might be a little over-the-top about this show, but you know what? It was great, and I'll miss it. But at least I still have Buffy and AngelCSI and Sex and the City and Law and Order: Criminal Intent and Love Hurts and Friends and The Chris Isaak Show, so how bad can things be? I watch too much TV, ain't?
