(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

21 December

So since this year I had a 2p flight to LA rather than an early morning flight, I didn't have to stay up the whole night, right? Because that's crazy, right?

Well, you'd think, but since I didn't get home until after midnight and then sat upstairs talking to Cynthia and Fran until 2.30a, and I hadn't done any laundry or packing or anything, and then my cell phone was going to arrive in the morning and I had to be up early because who knew when it was going to get there?

So I stayed up all night again.

It was actually much less rushed than usual, I puttered around, bathed, cleared stuff off of TiVo, it was actually a fine way to spend an evening. Night. Morning. Whatever.

As of about 8a, I was like a pointer dog, everytime Stockton barked I would run outside to see if it was the FedEx guy with my cell phone, but it was the mailman, it was the UPS guy, and mostly it was the exterminator working on the house next door, but since Stockton is under the impression that no non-Callahan should be on our street for any reason, she kept barking her fool head off and I kept running upstairs all hopefully.

I really kind of had to leave the house at 11.30a, but they promised me that the package would arrive before noon, so I hung around outside the house with my luggage in the rain until 11.50a when I realized that if I missed a 2p flight after staying up all night then there was no fricken hope for me, so I went out and caught the van.

I changed to the bus to the airport and immediately fell asleep, which certainly kept me from getting all tense, because it was 1.30p when I got out at the terminal. Startlingly enough, I checked in, got through security and to the gate and made my flight.

I slept most of the way to San Francisco, though I did manage to also read several plays. Not certain how that happened, but I did finish Ah, Wilderness and start and finish The Front Page before passing out in that insanely comfortable bolt upright position.

In San Francisco, my flight was delayed, so I had a lovely couple of hours in the airport reading The Rose Tattoo and The Hostage. I also called home and found that the cell phone did in fact arrive, and made Fran promise to send it to me on Monday. So I'll get it on Tuesday. I cannot wait!

After a few hours, I was on the plane for the puddle-jump to Burbank and Mom picked me up at the airport and we went home and had beef stroganoff. No, wait, we went to the supermarket first and managed to get in a fight at the checkout stand, so I think that was some kind of a record, after only being in each other's presence for an hour or two!

Then was the going home and the stroganoff and the checking of email and I think I was up for 43 hours before going to sleep, so it basically was just an ordinary trip for me except for the fact that I neither traveled in my pajamas, forgot anything vital in NY, nor missed the flight, so on second thought it was the most unusual trip I have ever had.

Today's horoscope:
Get the most from a lucky opportunity before it fades into the past. Although you're driven this weekend, it's a comfortable obsession. You have no problem with lazy people, but they should stay out of your way.

One year ago today:
It's discrimination against the Irish, I tell you! Have a fat Irish skull and forget about the cute glasses--it's goggles only for you, missy.
