(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

28 August

Yesterday I woke up around 7.30a, over an hour before the alarm, and I had to go to the bathroom and somehow I managed to wake all the way up, and so rather than forcing myself back to sleep and then ending up hitting snooze for an hour and running out of the house without breakfast, I decided to just be up.

I read in bed for awhile, I puttered around, I showered in a leisurely fashion, it was actually a rather nice way to spend the morning. Of course, usually I would far prefer to sleep a little longer, so I won't expect it to happen more often than, well, this one time, but it made for a different sort of morning mindset.

The book I started reading was one that I got I have no idea how many years ago in England, possibly in '96, I picked it up secondhand. I don't know why I got it, I dig school stories and pony stories, not nurse stories, but I guess it just drew me, and it only took six years for me to start reading it and five minutes for me to fall head over heels in love with it.

The book was Cherry Ames--Cruise Nurse.

How, may I ask, did I spend this many years not reading Cherry Ames books? They are right exactly up my alley, they are just the kind of old-fashioned girls book that I love. But I'm thrilled that I get to start reading and collecting them now. I immediately went on ebay, and unlike Antonia Forest and Pamela Brown books, which are a bitch to find, there were pages and pages of Cherry Ames books as far as the eye could see! I got like nine of them without blinking or paying too much, and am stopping until my next paycheck, as I'd like to be able to pay my rent and I know what I'm like.

And then when I got home, there was another birthday present waiting for me!

Someone that I do not know, a Mr. Cotton, sweetly sent me the DVD of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (that, peculiarly, I cannot link to at Amazon). I really love the series and appreciate the thought, but I cannot email him to thank him, because I don't have his email address! So thank you very much! You are good and kind and generous, and have excellent taste in DVDs.

Some very abstract pictures of Baldrick, some of them just look like shapes, not like a cat at all, but they interest me. I find it far more interesting to shoot blurry pictures without a flash than sharp clear ones with on.

(blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick) (blurry baldrick)

Today's horoscope:
Old ways dissolve and no longer work. Structures are changing. You must and can adapt.

One year ago today:
And what is this film? Just a little thing about a man and his little old mother, and my Mom would be the mother, and John Cleese would be the man.
