(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

16 April

So yesterday was just so beautiful!

I think that I can really and truly put away my coats for the season. Ha! I slay me. You think I put away my coats? Ever? Nope, I leave them draped around my apartment as though the snow is about to fly, but mostly because I can't be shifted to hang them up. No, wait, that's not it, it's that when it's warm I become completely coat-blind--I absolutely don't see them.

Not to mention the fact that my closet is blocked by the enormous, tottering pile of clothes on the floor, so I can't really hang them up anyway. You know, unless I put all of those clothes away.

Stop, you're killing me!

Anyway, it was beautiful and lovely and gorgeous and warm, and I just couldn't bear the thought of not actually seeing it, because all I ever do is stay in the building, so I went out and got lunch and walked a block where there is this tiny little min-park. A parklet. A par--it's so small, it doesn't have room for an r or a k. It is on a corner and there are chairs and a little grassy knoll, so I flung myself on the knoll and ate my lunch and read Movieline magazine and soaked up the sun, and by the time I figured out that it had probably been half an hour or a bit more, I was in a state of extreme relaxation.

The only problem with a state of extreme relaxation is that I worked very languidly for the remainder of the day. Fortunately, it wasn't so much a day of emergencies, and languid was okay.

I'm going to do that again, that whole leaving the building and lying in the grass thing. But only on days when there isn't that much to do. Not to mention days that aren't too hot, of which there may not be all that many left this "spring", what with it supposed to be hitting 89° today. Because it was winter last week, so naturally it must be summer this week!

Here is the email that I sent to my list yesterday:

"O what a good idea I have, and it's not even mine! Through bgirl's page, I found a cd trading list that looked like fun, so I joined, but then I realized that this list has been together for awhile, and new members aren't going to really get to join in with the trading until August, so I decided that a better idea would be to make a new list myself!

I have done tape loops several times, all of which always end up being gigantic disasters, but this way of doing it is much cleverer, since it doesn't count on everyone to not flake out every month, everyone pretty much only has to not flake out once, which everyone should be able to manage without too much difficulty.

Here's how it works, every month one person is responsible for making a mix tape or cd, make enough copies of it for everyone, and then send the package to me for distribution. I figured that it might be easier for people to join if I was the only one to have everyone's addresses. Now admittedly, it's a pain to make 12 or whatever copies of everything, but it's a one-time deal, and then you sit back and let the new music flow in. I also made a topica list for discussion of the music when it comes in. I love trading music, and I think this will be a fun and different way to do it.

I'm hoping to keep the list to 12 people so the cycle will only be a year long, but if there is more interest, we can always double up and have two people make tapes/cds every month rather than just one..

Anyone interested, let me know!"

Several people wrote back with interest, so already it's looking good, but I would like a few more people. When I see how many people are interested, then I'll decide whether it will be one or two mixes per month, but I think that the absolute cut-off will be 24 people, and we'll start next month.

And Lindsay Smith, if you are reading this, you are required to join, since you make the greatest mix tapes in the whole wide world! Also, if you kept copies of the other tapes you sent to me, let me know, because one of them broke and I am very sad!
