You know the best thing in the whole world? It being 9.30p on a Sunday night and knowing that you have a whole 'nother day off ahead of you! Life is remarkably sweet at 9.30p on the Sunday of a three day weekend.

On the other hand, at 7p on the Monday of a three day weekend, it isn't so great. But a three day weekend must always end no matter what. But that's okay, because there will be another one in...

November. Sigh...

Spent yesterday in the backyaaaaard! I haven't done that nearly enough this summer. It's all TiVo's fault. I mean, I love my TiVo, don't get me wrong, I'd marry it if I could, though it's probably out of my league, but one doesn't get out from in front of the box as often as one would if there weren't all these episodes of Monarch of the Glen and Jonathan Creek and Glasgow Kiss that needed watching (if you are thinking about getting DirecTV, BBCAmerica alone makes it all worthwhile).

But yesterday was an astoundingly lovely day, much too pretty to spend indoors, and besides, I had like four entries to write, so I chased the cats outside and took the laptop out and turned the cd player on and just had a lovely day of typing and listening and basking in the not too hot sun.

It's gotten cooler already--it's like there is always a heatwave on Memorial Day Weekend and always a cooldown on Labor Day Weekend. Mother Nature is really hooked into America's made-up seasons, ain't?

When I went upstairs yesterday morning, Cynthia said, "Hey, did you know that you have all of these packages on the front porch? Looks like more birthday presents!"

And it was! There was a package from Lush from Dawn with the nine bubblebaths in the wooden thingy, the same that I got from Never for Xmas and that I just used up recently! Excellent timing, Dawn. And there was also a book from Kate (have I mentioned that Kate is finally back?), The Princes in the Tower, which looks great.

And the last box was my box from me! No buying year this may be (though I haven't done as well about that as I meant to, there are too many excuses), but birthdays are birthdays! I got the Bruce Campbell autobiography, Henry Rollins' Think Tank, my boyfriend Barry's new album, and, lastly and at last, The Sims and the Livin' Large Expansion Pack.

The Sims is totally evil. I looked down and started playing and looked up and five hours had passed. Anybody got any good cheats? Like the unlimited money one?

Back to work tomorrow. Sigh...
