(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

2 October

So, the show is over, and I'm back to my regular life. Sigh... I never miss shows, when they are over they are over, and I don't care a bit--everyone else gets all weepy and sorry, but the only ones that I ever missed were...wait, let me look at my show list.

I was sad when Seductive Countess was over, and my beloved You Can Look But You'd Better Not Touch, and I think Naked Ambition and Naked Mole Rats, but mostly I could care less. They are enjoyable while they last, I have a fine time, or I'm miserable and I want to kill half the cast, but either way, over is over and I do ten shows a year and who the fuck cares?

But sometimes I do. Sometimes it just breaks my heart that I don't get to watch or perform it anymore, and this is one of them. Can't the cast come round to my house and perform it every night?

Maybe I'll film them! Yeah, after about the million other things I need to film first. Naked Ambition and The River Plays, then Statics and Dynamics. I'll be stacking up films like cordwood from now to the end of time.

So, yesterday Jessamyn sent a Journalcon related email with a link to the forum, and I popped round to see the "What swag is everyone bringing?" discussion.

Argh! Swag! I want to bring something! Last year, people brought all kinds of cool stuff--I remember someone brought yo-yos with their URL on them, and there were magnets and t-shirts and cool-stuff-a-go-go, and I decided that when I went this year, I would bring something fun as well. And it's not as though I haven't known that I'm going for a year, and now here it was, eleven days before I go, and I haven't gotten anything yet!

So basically, instead of working I spent the afternoon on the internet and on the phone, trying to find a company that had something really cool to print my URL on without making me buy 5000 of them and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, and especially didn't need 3-5 weeks to make them!

And there's some totally cool stuff out there, if you, you know, order them in time, pill boxes and stress balls and condoms and things, but what I had in mind were emery boards. I saw them once and thought they were a really clever little marketing tool, but I couldn't find any where I could buy less than 2500, and let me tell you, if I got 2500 emery boards, I'd be putting them in my grandchildren's Christmas stockings until I'm 95, and still have 500 left over to will to the Online Journaller's Museum after I've gone to my long home.

I finally found the perfect thing, and a company that would let me buy only 125 of them and will deliver them by next Thursday! And though they didn't have pink, they can do white with pink printing. I will of course still have 95 left over after Journalcon, but at least it's not over 2000. I told Cynthia and my Mom what they are and they laughed and said that it was cute, but I'm not telling anyone else, in case people think that they are stupid and foolish and will pelt me with rocks and garbage.

Okay, maybe I'm slightly over-paranoid, but I can't help it, I'm still scarred from the first NY Journaller's meeting where several people subsequently wrote entries about what a bitch I am. I'm sure it will happen again, there are people attending whom I know can't stand me, but hopefully most people will like my swag and think they're cute and things rather than make fun of me for bringing such a stupid thing.

I'm pretty thrilled, though. I'm getting my swag! It's only costing around $100 even with the rush order! And it's cute swag, dammit! And I'll be happy to send the 95 extras to non-Journalcon-attending readers who request them after I get back, minus a few to give out as Christmas presents.

O, and if anyone still wants to brings some really cute stuff, here is the three day page of the company I used. It costs a little to have such a rush order, but there's some good stuff there.
