(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

23 November

Astonishingly enough, I'm not going to get another day behind. This won't be going up in the morning (how can I tell? Well, it's 6.41p, that's a pretty strong indicator.)

I will write all of my back entries this weekend! And thus I swear. Stop laughing. I mean, I can't be behind when HoliDailies starts, or I'm fucked before I begin.

So, Thanksgiving was swell, thanks for asking. I feel sorry for people who can't stand to be alone, because a Thanksgiving completely alone, not seeing another human not on TV but for Cynthia for about 90 seconds when she told me that they were leaving the house so that I would know to check up on the dog occasionally.

I made all the food I liked, I didn't have to deal with anything that I didn't, I didn't have to watch football or make conversation or be friendly to people that I don't like, and I stayed in my jammies until 4p!

I am thankful for my freedom and my solitary life. It fills me with joy, most of the time.

I made the turkey breast that I got the other day, stuffed its little cavity with, well, stuffing (after being practically blinded by mincing the onions), put the rest into a cake pan, and ended up with the same dry stuffing that I always do.

The turkey breast has no extra skin to cover the stuffing, you see, so you don't get the nice moist stuffing, it's just as dry as the cake pan version. Someday I'll have to get some sort of covered baking dish, a casserole dish, though it's silly to do so just for stuffing, it'll be worth it not to have a dish of stuffing made out of individual stuffing molecules rather than a coherent whole.

Lechter's is going out of business, maybe when I leave the office I'll run over and see what they have on sale. And I don't want to hear anyone say the word "No buying year", got me?

Anyway, the turkey turned out great, even though I couldn't turn it over or all of the stuffing would fall out, and I couldn't baste it, because the fat was popping so much that I couldn't get near it without getting burnt.

Basically, I just followed the instructions on the turkey bag, which said something like "Turn on oven to 350. Put turkey in over for a couple hours or so. Eat." And it turned out perfectly! Man, remember when I thought cooking a turkey was hard?

So I had turkey and mashed potatoes and stuffing and forgot about the cranberry sauce in the fridge. The same can that I didn't finish last year, but I found it the other day, and it's still perfectly good! And bread pudding and whipped cream, of course.

And it was, might I add, the best bread pudding I have ever made--usually I am tempted to leaving it in the oven for too long, but this time I just pulled it out, and it's so soft and creamy that I wished that I was hungrier when I ate it. Because I was fuuuuull.

So what did I do all day besides cook and eat? Cleared stuff off of TiVo! I watched three episodes of Friends, two of Sex in the City, two of Enterprise, and three of CSI, and was just happy as a clam.

Yes, I know, Buffy marathon, but I'm taping and watching it in order and I don't want to see stuff all higgledy-piggledy.

I had never seen CSI before--I read an article about it recently that sounded so interesting that I thought I'd give it a shot. And it's so wonderful! It's really geeky and investigative and detailed and I just fell for it hard. Not to mention the whole William Peterson is way cute thing, but that should go without saying. Tall smart guy filled with unexpressed pain and secrets? I'm there, baby.

All in all, a practically perfect Thanksgiving.
