28 May Am I ashamed of myself for being so many days behind? Well, yee-eesss...but that isn't actually making me write any faster. I think I have eight entries to write. I have notes for most of them, but there's still the actual writing to do. Why didn't I do them yesterday? Well, because I went in to work yesterday. I'm not exactly certain why...I think I was slightly overwhelmed at the amount of work that we got behind last week with the new system and being a person short and all, and then leaving early on Friday and not actually doing a single thing that day, and allll those expense reports that needed entering, so I packed up my computer and a few DVDs and went in for a couple of hours. I ended up working for eight hours. That's a full working day. Is there something wrong with my brain? That's going pretty far to avoid writing entries, that's for sure. Well, had I stayed home I would have watched movies and played Quake, this way I watched movies ( The Matrix, O Brother Where Art Thou, part one of Pride and Prejudice and X-Men) and got something useful done. And got paid! I'm a frickin' loon.
Then, when I got home, I started my new mix tape. It's funny, I started this idea of a mix tape, of two versions of the same songs, with just one song, "Greenland Whale Fisheries", which I have on my Weaver's box set and on Paul Clayton's Whaling and Sailing (also Sailing and Whaling, because I didn't actually realize that they were the same album when I got them), but now I suddenly have enough to make two tapes! Possibly more. So, I did side one with just tweedle-dee-deedle-dee folk like Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention and the Arizona Folk Review and Great Big Sea and I'll finish the other side as soon as I finish this entry. Why is it, though, that a 45 minute side of a tape, when you have the songs all picked out and everything and you don't make mistakes and have to stop, how can it possibly always take 2 hours to record? One of life's great mysteries.
