(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

27 May

"So, why didn't you answer the phone this morning?"
"It wasn't plugged in--I thought I'd be up in time."
"You shouldn't think!"
"I know, but I usually am up in time, I was just awakened too early and I couldn't get back to sleep."
"What woke you up?"
"Those horrible children."
"What were they doing?"
"No, wait, it was the horrible fact that I had to pee."
"O, that happens to me..."
"I remember now, it was the horrible cat throwing up next to my head!"
"Eeyew!"
"That is what woke me, but then I had to pee, horribly, so that is why I got up, and then the horrible children were why I could not go back to sleep for awhile."
"What were they doing?"
"Apparently, raising the dead, judging from the screaming and the thumping."

What I didn't say to Mom was that the other reason I had trouble sleeping was that I had the actor's nightmare. No big deal, I get it all the time, but rarely four times in a row.

I would dream that I was in a show that was about to open and I didn't know my lines, have a costume, or have any idea what was going on, and I only had five minutes before I had to be onstage. Then I would wake up and think "Phew, only a dream!" fall back asleep, and immediately be back about to open that show again. Four times! My subconscious is trying to tell me something. But since I am not currently in rehearsals for anything, I haven't the foggiest idea what.

Yesterday was a good day. I was able to take my little Monty into the vet before Jon came over and took the car, when I thought that I wouldn't be able to until Monday.

As I told my private list earlier this week, he is having some skin problems that are just getting worse and worse, and he is now to the point where if you even lightly touch certain areas of his body he shrieks in agony. He is eating well, and seems fine otherwise, but I really felt that enough was enough.

Most of my list friends suggested a food allergy, with Kathy sending this useful link, filled with info that looked really familiar, but the vet said that it was a flea allergy. He found only one flea on him, but said that that was probably the problem and gave some pills that I have the joy of shoving down his throat, half a pill at a time, for the next ten days. Well, nine now.

I wasted an entire pill wrapping him in a towel, prying open his jaws and flinging it down his throat, or attempting to do such as he worked his jaws and twisted his head back and forth and spit it back in my eye. The next time I tried crushing it up and adding it to his food, which he inhaled with no problem at all. Who knew? I hope it works, and if not, I'll try that sensitive skin Science Diet that Ginni suggested.

After I came back, Mom called, or actually, Mom called Cynthia, because I was online and didn't check my messages, so she came down with the cordable, saying "You are a very bad daughter!"

Mom was calling about an offer on QVC for a good VCR for $75, and she was wondering if I needed a new VCR, which I do, rather. While we were talking, I mentioned TiVo, which I have been mentioning to her for about a month or so, because I desperately want it and have been priming her for Christmas. As I said it, Cynthia reminded me that they are having a special on DirecTV for free installation and whatever, saving $200, so I turned on the special TiVo infomercial channel (you think I'm joking?) and got the info and she said:

"Alright, you can have it."
"What, really? Seriously?"
"Yes, but since you had the luggage for your birthday, this is for Christmas, and you aren't getting anything else!"
"I won't want anything else, honestly! Except for maybe some stocking stuff and maybe a couple of books!"

Don't I have the best Mommy in the whole world? Or, rather, aren't I spoiled? But I really wanted that TiVo, more than life itself, I'll never miss Buffy or Nero Wolfe or Ebert and Not-Siskel ever again!

Then, I ran into town to buy some cds!

Yeah, I know, it's my no-buying year, but these were for the mix tape that I'm making, the Doubles tape of two of the same or similar songs, and there were a few that I really needed to make the tape just right.

I may be obsessive-compulsive, but it makes for good mix tapes. I got this cd and this one and this one and this one. And a couple more, but it's embarrassing when I wasn't supposed to be buying anything in the first place. I didn't buy a single thing that I didn't need for the tape, though! I didn't buy this or this or this or even this!! I have a little bit of self-control, just a little bit, really I do.

Not to mention TiVo! I am getting TiVo!! I am the happiest little girl in all the land, by golly.
