(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

You know, I really don't feel like I had a weekend. I had fun, but in order to feel as though I actually had a weekend, I must spend a certain amount of time in my own apartment, being a blob, and I really didn't do alot of that. you know?

(all natural!)

So, Saturday night I spent at Greg's house, soon to be Greg and Melissa's house, on literally the most comfy sofa in the whole world, then we all (including Melissa's brother and his girlfriend), got up and had breakfast.

The girls did, that is. We made pancakes and bacon and eggs and ate them nicely at the table. The boys ate meatball sandwiches in front of the basketball game in the basement. Sitting on the floor, might I add. I felt as though I was in a really stereotypical sitcom.

Melissa drove me into Philadelphia to catch the train home, and we took the scenic route, the scenery being the thirty or forty churches that we passed.

And I am not exaggerating, there really were at least thirty, if there wasn't one per block, I felt as though there were something wrong. My favourite was where there were three or four huge churches, immediately followed by a tiny storefront church. Because the big ones weren't enough, I guess. Also, there was the Catholic church/seminary covering several entire blocks, with a small, defiant Presbyterian church on the very next corner.

If anyone goes to hell in Philadelphia and its outskirts, it certainly is not for lack of opportunity for redemption!

We got a bit off-track looking for the 30th St. Station. I could tell that we had missed it, because we were on 21st St. and I'm all quick and insightful like that, but because everything is one-way and streets are in an odd order, Melissa insisted that she would be unable to get me to the station just by driving back the other way, which may be that's because she is unfamiliar with the order numbers come in, but I would never even think of such a thing.

Fortunately, before she had to drive me all the way to NY, we saw a sign that said, "30th St. Station This Way, You Ninnies!" and we followed it and got me safe to the station. I had missed the train, but it was a beautiful day, so sitting in the sun reading for an hour was no real deprivation.

New Jersey transit is so funny, the train workers really have alot of personality. On the way over, I asked the conductor how many stops to New Brunswick, and he said, "Beats me!" I laughed merrily, thinking that he was kidding, but he walked away, so clearly he was telling the truth.

On the way home, at one point came the announcement, "Please listen for your stop, we cannot double-stop the train. Also, if the door you are standing by does not open, do not just keep standing by it--you cannot will it to open with the power of your mind, go find another door where passengers are actually exiting, and go out that one!"

Due to our stopping and waiting for another train to get the hell out of our way for half an hour, it was a longish trip, but I got home in time for Katie's birthday, which actually was yesterday after all, not Saturday. I gave her a Wizard of Oz doll of the character that she played in the school play and a copy of Watership Down, because she is 13 now, and is old enough for my favourite book ever.

If she doesn't like it, I will be forced to kill her.
