(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

13 May

So, I went to Philly this weekend for Melissa's birthday, and, sometime around midnight Saturday night, Wes and Corina and Greg and I were sitting around the dining room table, and Wes said, "This isn't nearly as exciting a party as last year's. And trust me, that's a good thing!"

"Yeah," I said, "I got two entries out of last year's party, I'll be lucky to get a couple of paragraphs out of this one!"

The most exciting thing that happened was Celebrity Guest Sean from Boot Camp made a balloon mouse for Melissa. It was really cool, but would have been cooler had I watched even one second of the show ever ever ever. But considering that all there were were round balloon, not proper long ones, the mouse was quite an achievement.

O, and by the way, my new haircolour is pink!

I was dying it on Friday night, all thrilled at how pretty it looks, and I wondered what the hell took me so long. I mean, why did I wait until I was well into my 30s before realizing that I could do whatever the hell I wanted with my hair whenever I wanted to do it?

We think that there are these rules stopping us from doing fun things, but you know what? Mostly they are just in our heads. It was like right before I turned 30 and was in the kitchen of my apartment in Brooklyn, washing dishes, thinking about how I didn't want to have a roommate anymore, how I wanted to live alone, and then I though, "Hey, I'm gonna be thirty, I can do anything I like!" and I realized the astounding freedom that comes with being an adult.

Well, it happened again on Friday, when I was in the Ho Sto (also known as Ricky's) looking to see what dye there was, choosing between the green and the blue and the yellow and the red and finally settled on the pretty pretty pink, because you know what? I'm thirty-six years old, and I can do anything I like!

Wahoo!

Lenten entries missed:

Nicholas Grinder did some stuff and did some other stuff and did some more stuff. I love this journal, but the entries are hard to summarize.

Today's horoscope:
Foreign food tastes zestier today. Go out to eat or fix the family an ethnic dish. Broaden your culinary horizons.

One year ago today:
Okay, this Pepsi thing is getting bad. It's only been three or four days and it's making me crazy.
