30 March Gotta get to work early, because I have to leave work early, because Katie's school play is tonight. That squishy noise you hear is my eyes rolling out of my head, but, as Fran pointed out, it should be terrible and hilarious, like the last one. It's The Wizard of Oz. God save us.
Fortunately, since absolutely bugger-all happened yesterday, I saved Rate-a-Trailer™ for today! You lucky people. 1. Evolution I saw the teaser trailer a while ago, but I cannot find that I reviewed it. I believe my review was something about the fact that I reserved judgement, so it's not really any great loss. This new trailer makes this film look so great that I'm afraid of being fooled. Can it really be that good? It starts out looking like a drama, then turns comic, has David Duchovny in it, aliens everywhere, looks like Men in Black, "There's always time for lubricant!". I don't know if we could be so lucky. 2. Pearl Harbor Dear Lord, please deliver me from this fucking trailer. If I am forced to see it again, I may have to put my eyes out. 3. Swordfish Hmm, there are plusses and minuses, in the debit column are Halle Berry in a speaking role (bring back Storm!), John Travolta looking pretty fat and in his worst hairdo since Pulp Fiction (Battlefield Earth doesn't count, I think), in the plus column are Don Cheadle and the lovely Hugh Jackman. And honestly, John Travolta's fat and badly coiffed self did pretty well with Pulp Fiction, so I think that the plusses outweigh the minuses. As long as Hugh takes his shirt off. Reasonably often. 4. Bridget Jones' Diary This is an early teaser trailer, and I notice that Renee doesn't actually speak, except to say, "O, don't!" just so that nobody is distracted by the state of her accent, whatever that is. Hugh Grant looks at his charm-machine best. I love the fact that Colin Firth is playing Darcy in this film, that is such clever casting that I cannot even stand it. 5. Along Came a Spider Morgan Freeman is great, no matter what B-movie plup he is in, and this looks pretty pulpy. I have never read any of these books, nor did I see whatever the hell that was with Ashley Judd a few years ago, but this looks pretty entertaining, in a summer movie kind of way.
