(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

22 June

I am obsessed with my TiVo. My TiVo is the most wonderful thing in the whole world. In fact, were my apartment suddenly to burst into flames, I think that I would think that the kitties could fend for themselves, that I could always get a new computer, that 20 years worth of paper journals I could do without, and that who really cares about all my negs and prints, photography is so passe.

My TiVo, on the other hand, would be rescued! I'm planning on starting the First Church of TiVo.

No, no, really, you don't understand, I spent hours yesterday programming shows and wishlists and saying "don't record this episode" and trying to remember names of British mystery series that used to play on A&E so that if they ever play again, I can get them. Just typing letter by letter, listening to the little electronic boops and beeps sounding like an old game of Pong.

And the very first thing that it recorded was Cat Stevens on Behind the Music, an excellent ep that I had missed the first time. Thank you, TiVo!

O God, and I'll never miss another episode of Nero Wolfe or Ebert and Not-Siskel or America's Castles or Sessions at West 54th or Buffy or Angel or Sex in the City or The Chris Isaak Show or Inside the Actors Studio or St. Elsewhere or Iron Chef or SCTV or Bravo Profiles or Saturday Night Live or MST3K.

And neither will I miss another apperance by Russell or or George Clooney or Tommy Lee or Hugh Jackman or Timothy Hutton or Roddy McDowall or Austin Pendleton or Edward Herrman or Liam Neeson or Kevin Spacey or Jodie Foster or Alan Cumming or Ewan McGregor or Craig Bierko or Ralph Fiennes or Adrian Dunbar or Alex Jennings or Billy Crudup or Fry and Laurie or Ray Milland or Jean Reno.

And I won't miss any musical numbers by Dan Tyminski or Alison Krauss (or, by extension, Barry Bales) or Randy Newman or Billy Bragg or Gillian Welch or Dolly Parton or Rufus Wainwright or the Bacon Brothers.

I won't miss thirtysomething when it starts in July or any ice skating or any apperances by the Jazz or Twin Peaks, if they play it again, or similarly VR5 or The Prisoner or Inspector Morse or A Touch of Frost or Daziel and Pascoe or Oktober or that modern Macbeth or anything on Moulin Rouge. Or Rock Follies!!

My life is a glorious cycle of song.

What one material object would make you change your religion?

And we are still talking about cleaning the house, biking and flirting, and the my job sucks thread has come back from the dead as well!

Today's horoscope:
Time to get away. If you cannot take an actual trip, plan one for the future. Concentrate on how you can be independent.

One year ago today:
Perhaps the audience was thrown by the thirty seconds of nothing at the beginning, but the only way that they could have laughed less would have been if they had been weeping.
